never seen anything different. you do your work well, you get compensated for it.

if it ggets the job done for you.. kudos. But there are certainly tools that get it done faster and in higher quality... I guess some people dont have the $$ for that stuff, or the "patience"....

Ive simply noticed it's the first thing people say when they're sick of trying to get the material to sound right. "man, if it sounds good, its good". I agreed he does leave the beater down, but brings it up in anticipation of the next hit. Not leaving it down TILL the next hit as many,many drummers do. as for "limits", you must remember some of us arent trying to be artistic, or place some sort of mark on the world. as strange as that may seem.....
