I never found out if it was a scam or not - the dates moved to a time when I had another session already booked and there was no flexibility with moving either one. They did say they might get in touch again at some time in the future so I guess I may find out some day!

I have Auratones and Event ASP8s as monitors - I use the Auratones FAR more than the Events for mixing, but it is useful to have fuller range speakers to reference on. Another tip about Liquid Mix usage: always restart your daw in between loading different projects as sometimes the LM doesn't save/load settings properly otherwise.

Regarding software, Ableton would be the most popular choice of loop based tool, but in my opinion ACID is much easier to get to grips with for kids. It depends what you want, really.
