In computer world Soundtoy's Decapitator is my favourite plugin for this. It can go from incredibly subtle driving/"warming" to absolutely insane in-your-face distortion, in several different flavours, and it has some awesome tone-shaping controls as well. You'll use it for so much more than dirtyin...

Audio Units are supported. It's RTAS/AU only. Your wish has been granted!
Really? I'm sure it uses Audiosuite plugins, but I can't see mention of AU support anywhere.

If it had AU support I'd be sorely tempted. As it is, I may pick up a copy at some point for compatibility's sake.

Thanks for the reply, that's some solid advice. I've been getting more luck being a little more honest/ personal and less "professional" with my emails/ CVs. Got a few offers of some work experience type things at least. On the whole most people I've talked to seem to suggest that the only way to g...

I have a modded 319 and it sounds great, kind of like a slightly darker, less "open" but "tighter" U87 to my ears.

Hi all.

I never found out if it was a scam or not - the dates moved to a time when I had another session already booked and there was no flexibility with moving either one. They did say they might get in touch again at some time in the future so I guess I may find out some day!

I have Auratones and Event ASP8s as monitors - I use the Auratones FAR more than the Events for mixing, but it is useful to have fuller range speakers to reference on. I also reference on Sennheiser HD600 headphones - I reckon I could get away with just the Auratones and Headphones if I had to, but ...

Another tip about Liquid Mix usage: always restart your daw in between loading different projects as sometimes the LM doesn't save/load settings properly otherwise.

The e902 is pretty cool too. Has anyone done a head to head with the e602? The folks at Sennheiser seem to think it's a few dollars better, anyway... Never heard the e602 but I was pretty disappointed with the 902 on kick. On bass cab though, it sounds great. How would ya'll say the e602 compares t...

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the Audix d6 yet. It's perfect for that "modern", scooped, snappy kick sound imo.

LiquidMix - mainly LA2A and 1176 comps. I use the 1176 mostly to save CPU as I prefer the: Softube FET Compressor - this does the "blown out 1176" thing better than the Liquidmix, IMO. Stillwell Major Tom Compressor - good DBX 160 emulation. Does what it says on the tin. Sony Oxford Limiter - seriou...

The reason that I tend to "mix with the preamps" (for soundcheck ONLY) is so that I don't have to recall fader positions later on when it comes to the gig. If there's something specific (and the hi hat mic is a good example, at least at smaller gigs) where it does not make sense to do that the I'll ...

Could you not get some of those mini desktop towers? Like a mac mini but pc.

Regarding software, Ableton would be the most popular choice of loop based tool, but in my opinion ACID is much easier to get to grips with for kids. It depends what you want, really.

Re: Offered work but not sure who the artist is

Hi all, I'm looking for some advice, primarily from the more experienced posters who have worked on big projects (Joel, Chris etc). I received an email a couple of days ago from a guy saying he was an assistant to "a well established UK band". He's looking for me to do some work with them. Anyway, ...
