Topic: dbx 160x pair as mix buss compressor?

I think the biggest problem with using a couple of 160s on the mix bus would be the lack of adjustable attack and release times. That's not to say that it won't work, just something to bear in mind.

I really like the K&M stands. Very adjustable and stable for everything but really high/precarious overhead duty.

I'd look into a Soundtracs Topaz as well - I have one and it works brilliantly for my needs.

The Midas has pretty decent EQ for a console of this price but a major minus point is the lack of polarity switches on any of the channels. You really don't want to be fiddling around with cables and connectors to check the phase of things every time you use more than one mic on a source.

In a situation where I disagree with a client's suggestion or fail to understand it, I usually ask them why they want to make the change and what they hope to accomplish by doing it. If they have an answer that makes any kind of sense, even if I disagree with it, we try the idea and see how it sound...

wow, someone to make cheap speakers even cheaper! but seriously, if they price them right they may sell a lot of them. of course if they sound like crap, then maybe not... But... the Auratone was used precisely because it sounds like crap. If you could get a half-decent mix on them, then you automa...

Thanks. I guess one thing that I would prefer is that the videos don't focus too much on engineering or "getting great sounds" or anything and instead concentrate on how to run PT efficiently.

Good Pro Tools tutorials

Hi all, I've been using Logic for about 5 years now and am firmly set in my ways, but I have a few sessions coming up at studios that only run Pro Tools. I do have a copy of Pro Tools 8 and an M Box for compatibility with outside sessions so I would like to brush up on my Pro Tools chops a bit. Coul...

Depending on the track and its frequency makeup then izotope rx can work wonders with this sort of thing as well.

Some things that have helped for me: 1) Bass exciters, eg maxxbass etc. These things have a pretty bad rep and they can be terrible if used wrongly but this is one area where they can be quite useful. Creates harmonics at higher frequencies to give the impression of low end. You have to tweak it a f...

Also, I think you'd be surprised how easy they are to operate effeciently. I was recitent about using one at first as well but I had no problems at all and actually prefer it to a mouse for some things, the giant scroll wheel around the ball being one.

If I could just have one software compressor it would be the elysia mpressor. Other comps do certain things better, but the mpressor does everything pretty well and certain things amazingly.
