Re: what distortion pedal do you use?

I crank my amp. if I need it to be clean, I play softer. Distorted I play harder.

I have a ds-1 in case I need to get into total noise.

Ive never had a problem. Simply turn up an mp3 of a song you like to turn up and you will immediately get annoyed, frustrated and want to kill things.

Re: frequency analysis

keep in mind that is FFT analyzation that is being displayed on a logarithmic scale. That means, there is less resolution the lower frequency that is viewed. It also most likely is not using a proper weighting system. I would suggest going to www.voxengo.com and try the span plugin and you will lear...

Re: Gear Lust: Tips on Saving Money

learn to make it yourself. You will end up with somethign awesome and absolutely perfect in the same amount of time if you saved up nickles and dimes... and it will cost much less most likely. And the knowledge you gain is PRICELESS. save all the money you want, but you cant buy knowledge, you gotta...

Re: Albums you're embarassed to say you haven't heard....

never listened to an album from:

nirvana
anyone before 1970

and most everything I see mentioned here in all this indie rock stuff. I listen to a lot of music and a lot of the stuff you guys listen to, I personally think sounds terrible. Elliot smith is great though.

Re: Control Room-less studios.

I love working without a control rool now. I think if you are relying on the mics and pre's to make something sound right... well. I generally work on getting a great sound in the room, then as we go through practice takes I try different mics/pres. I have a very good idea of what works where pretty...
