the dual 9V looks like the way to go.
is there any reason that people know of why they would have discontinued it?
no one biting?

the pro doesn't seem like an upgrade in this way. :)

Yes, battery is a must.
I want to record outside, where there will not be any power.

portable phantom power supply?

Hi there, I have a portable recorder that accepts an XLR mic input, and also provides phantom power to mics, but I am looking for a more long-term recording solution so that I could spend at least 8-10 hours recording in the field. Is there a lithium-ion battery based solution (or something else lik...

by the way, thanks for the suggestions so far.
i really don't record bands at all, so my needs are more about getting a close-up recording of sound objects and foley.

So, I should mention that I ran the quick test- I provided a 48V power source to the mic via an external recorder, and now that the phantom power is off on the RME unit, there is no crackling/noise. This must be an issue with the power supply and it not jiving well with the phantom power source. Cou...

preamp suggestions?

i am looking for a decent 2-4 mic preamp for anywhere between 5-700 dollars. i know that to get something nice i should probably keep my inputs to 2, which is fine with me. could people please post their suggestions within this range? i couldn't find any information via searching the forum for my sp...

thanks very much for the reply and affirmation.
i feel very similarly.

i think that logic is getting better, but i think it's a bit expensive in comparison to other options.

what's your opinion of the mach5?

I've tried Cubase and I hate it, esp. for Mac. I don't know what the comment here is about pimping my Logic DAW, but I have absolutely no interest in limited customization. I have to say that I would prefer using Reaper if I was going for customization, although they only have 3 people working for t...

DAW for Kontakt + DAW general

I can't stand it anymore, I have to know what other people's experiences are... I have two main DAW questions. First off, I should mention some personal preferences: I am a Mac user (OK, more of a disease than a preference). I hate the look and feel of Logic's UI; so APPL-flashy, etc. I would really...

I think the AT4050 or AT4070 are the best bet for me so far; I didn't state it originally (out of curiosity), but I am sorta looking out for a condenser that would be fairly safe to take out in the field and also be crisp in the studio. The SM7b is an amazing looking mic as well, and I'm happy to se...

@Scodiddly: I am looking for an all-around mic that doesn't have as much of a specialty, but my quest is for a friend of mine. Personally, I am into field recordings and close-miking in the studio, so ideally something that I could take out with me w/out too much worry, but knowing that I could get ...

400 dollar microphones

Hi there, I am about to buy a mic with 400 dollars in my hand, and I was looking to get suggestions of which microphone might be the best for me to purchase? I saw the mic thread on the sticky section of the site, but I am looking for a more narrow price-range so I figure that people might have more...
