Re: Cool vocal Mic - Anyone else ever try it?
I understand that the D112 is the vocal mic of choice of Trent Reznor on all the Nine Inch Nail recordings.

I heard the guy who invented the Moog is also the guy who had the first sex change operation in the late 60's.

Re: Demo Mastering
Sorry to report, but here in Minneapolis, booking folks don't even listen to demos to decide whether or not to give you a gig. All they care about is how many of your pals you will bring in. Master your demos as a product to give away to the drunks to try to promote yourself in the future. Then focu...

The Fender 400PS does have a mid-range on the normal channel....not on the bass channel, but one none the less.

Re: Top Three Underrated Traits A Good Engineer Should Have.
1) A Playstation to keep the drummer out of your hair as you fix his tracks with midi.
2) A Playstation to keep the Bass player out of your hair as you fix his tracks with midi.
3) Some X-Mas lights and some candles to make the singer feel deep and introspective.

Using Key Input to beef up a kick drum track
I have a great 16 track live recording that has one fault...lame kick track. It's in time and all, but I'm not happy with the umph it has. I want to add some meat to it (frequency wise) using the key input on the Comp/Gate. Anyone have some experiance doing that? I'd really appreciate some input.

Re: svt clone?
I have a "69 Fender 400 PS (435 Watts RMS) that I believe was created as Fenders answer to the SVT. Lots of power! They obviously don't manufacture it anymore but I come across one every now and then. Not cheap, but if you love big tube amps on bass, it certainly gets the job done.

Anyone know anything about dating Gibson SG's?
I got this SG that I believe some farmer had in his barn that at some time he decided to refinish with a poor sanding job and some cheap stain. It does have the P-90 which is cool and it does sound great but it looks like crap.......I can still see the original serial # but the Gibson site seems to ...

Re: Question on care of condenser mics
Condenser mics may be a bit more fragile than dynamic mics, but the only real care you need to use is to keep them away from smoke, don't drop or abuse them, always put them away in the case and check to see what kind of SPL they can handle. As for drum overheads you will always use condensers (99.9...

Re: recording drum machine to tape question (ghost beats)
Sounds like "print through"....transfer of a recorded signal from one layer of tape to another because of magnetic induction. You get false signals or pre-echo on playback. Too high of recording levels can cause this along with storage. temp, tape thickness...Always store the tape tails out to avoid...
