Acoustic bass requires a good room to record well. It needs the space for the low end to develop. No reason why electric bass can benefit from the same treatment. For the amp, I reckon? Never mix with MP3s. In addition, unlike more developed formats like vorbis, or musepack, MP3 leaves little chunks at the beginning and end of a file. It can't encode without encoding in chunks. Another thing that often works for me is to make a copy of the Bass track and put a HPF and sometimes a LPF on it. Then put the reverb on THAT track only. I remembered it from the days I drove a Pinto with an 8-track, and also listened to a lot of UFO, Zep and Molly Hachet.

Those whom I collaborate with on recording my/their/our stuff, and a couple of websites, nost notably (surprise!) TOMB.

I had a bass player some years back, loading his Firebird after a gig, put his "P"-bass on the roof, never to be seen again.

One can only suppose that it fell off as he drove away; it wasn't there the next day.
