Re: suggestions for digital recording setup.
i got a Roland VS-880EX recently, and i think it's the best $400 (eBay) i've ever spent! my last unit was a cassette fourtrack (Fostex X-26) that died almost ten years ago. i paid somewhere around $50-100 more this time around, and got at least ten times the value. i'd never want to record directly ...

Re: Just some general advice needed
you can save yourself at least $50 right off the bat and try the Sky SEK14 instead of the SM57. it's Chinese and sounds just like an SM58, which makes it real similar. i find them on eBay for about $20-30 each, usually from the same cat in Miami (i think he imports them for wholesale or something). ...

Prague rocks! just don't get caught using kiddie tickets for the subway. them police are scary! and be careful what you eat. even at the McDonald's the meat is sketchy. i'm pretty sure that cats are a tasty snack there. but most things are DIRT cheap, and it's such a fascinating and vibrant atmosphe...

Re: Tricks to use on backup vocals
whatchoo mean, reversed their order? reversed the phase? you could also put about 30-60ms of delay on one side. that'll fatten and spread it out REAL quicklike.

Re: How long per song
as long as it takes to get it to sound good! that's the best answer you're going to get. having said that... if it takes a couple months (or even longer), then that's what it takes. if you're doing it for money, just try to work SMART, work hard, and work as fast as you can without skimping on quali...

Re: "ready-made" feedback guitar?
the Seymour Duncan Invader is great for getting feedback early. it's got polepieces about as big as your freakin' THUMB! only problem is that it's so damn hot that it also tends to dampen sustain a bit, so it's a bit of a surgical operation to tweak the pickup/polepiece height just right, so you get...

Re: downloadable track sheet?
what do you need on yours? how many tracks? v-tracks? i just made one last night for my Roland VS-880ex, and there's a ton of good ones designed for those units, if it's at all similar to what you're looking for.

yeah, from the cups to the jack! any mid-cord splicing is just going to rip apart daily, as i always end up getting stuck on corners of furniture and whatnot.

replacement headphone cord
have dog. 'nuff said.
does anybody know a good place to get fairly cheap replacement headphone cord? not just an extension, i need the splittable kind. have tried Radio Shack, but they've gone skanky and only sell overpriced gadgets (and a few capacitors here and there). thanks!
