I listen and adjust the mic to fit the song. It's amazing to me how different the snare sounds in realtion to its position of the mic (closer to the top, closer to the bottom, peaking up over the rim) Then I adjust the mic to position the null at the HH and the rack tom. The mic is approx 6 to 8 inc...

Yes! Mic the snare with that ribbon. I love to mic the shell of the snare with a ribbon. These are the best snare sounds that I have ever captured. Move the mic up and down on the shell to find the sound you are looking for. You can get a lot of variation with a slight adjustment, more top head, mor...

http://www.eurotubes.com/ This guy will get you set up with tubes. He knows the super really well and just about every other amp I've refered to him over the years. He's a tube genius. Tell him the sound you are after and he'll get you there. He's local for me and he's changes my tubes every few ye...

Hey Joe

Is there a specific reason that you don't use any hardware comp/limiters on the way into the box?

VO comps or limiters

Hi All

For those of you that do post and voice-over work...what is your favorite compressors or limiters and why?

I've been using the Summit TLA-50 with mixed results and I'm curious what others are using.

thanks

digital masters (raw tracks)

I'm curious... How many of you guys give your clients some kind of digital masters (Raw tracks, not mixes) once they pay the bill? Do you burn them to DVD, if they didn't purchase their own hard drive? If you store a copy of the masters, how much do you charge the client if they want an additional c...

Unix Executable Files and PT

Hi all I have just received a pro-tools session from another engineer. I need to remix this tune but the .wav files are showing up as Unix Executable Files on my Mac. I've never seen these before. I am new to the mac world and have no idea what these files are. Does anyone have experience with switc...

You don't lose the plugs, they just get moved out the active plugin folder. If you want to continue to use them for older sessions, you must move them back into the active plugin folder and they work just fine.

Check the DUC for specific information.

This console does have discrete pres and is very flexible. In 1987 this console sold for 65,000 if that matters to anyone.

FS: Soundcraft TS-12

I thought I'd try this again. It?s time to scale down. I?m selling off the big stuff as it just doesn?t get the kind of use it deserves. It's in good condition and needs to used. Soundcraft TS-12 This console is has 36 inputs (modular channel strips) with nice pre?s, amazing EQ with mid and low mid ...

Thanks Ethan

Dead it is! I need it for VO work.

So because it is going to be totally dead I guess that I can make it any size or shape that I want. This is good ecause I want to keep my work space as big as possible

optimal dimensions for a medium sized booth

Hello all I'm planning a move into a new house and I want to turn the basement into my new work space. I'd like to go with a nice open room this time but also frame in a medium sized ISO booth for vox, VO, or gtr amps. I am thinking I will build a hard (floating) floor and soft ceiling. I will be us...

I wish Digidesign would just something on your ilok that would allow you to access the software on your computer without the hardware.
