Do you folks use the xlr out, or the trs out? All my other novice gear has a pre AND post level, yet the EH does not have this. When using xlr out, do you just adjust the gain knob until 1) input signal is strong enough 2) output signal hitting your recording device is hot enough? Is there a benefit...

It is rare to find a product representative providing insight to the design and application of their product. I'm so sick of the snobbery on this board sometimes. It like 'no girls allowed' or something of the like when it comes to contributions from 'business men.' When is the last time the owner o...

I love Jazzmasters. There were a couple things I thought could be improved upon, so I bought a body, neck, and parts from Warmoth guitars - high quality, American made. I put a traditional tremelo with a low-profile bridge in there, higher-output Seymour-Duncan Jazz pickups, one tone one volume, no ...

I've got a cheap ass bass that I record with - Johnson Jazz Bass ripoff. Intonation is correct, strings are new, but I'm not a seasoned bass player and I find that I pull notes slightly sharp when I get all excited. First, I tune not with open strings, but fretted on the 5th fret and tune to that no...

Analog Delay Wars
Anybody use the reissued Ibanez AD-9 analog delay pedal? I've got the Arion SAD-3 stereo analog delay, and for the $20 I spent on it (brand new!) its awesome. Just wondering if the Ibanez is really $100 better sounding.

Arion SAD-3 analog delay VS. Ibanez AD-9
Got a Arion analog delay pedal which was the best $20 I've ever spent, but was wondering if there is $100 worth of difference between that and the newer re-issued Ibanez AD-9 analog delay? I'd be using it for lots of stuff, but guitar mostly.

I've got the Korg D1200 (basically the same thing, presets and all, but 12 track). The pros will gasp at this, but the built in 'final effects' (aka 'mastering presets) will pump stuff up. I use the 'St. Mlti Band Limiter' preset and boost the gain, then bounce to two tracks to 'print' the compressi...

Re: Questions for home studio owners.
I'm no pro, but you may not want to blow your wad on buying multiple stereo mic pres. Buy one, learn on it, make due. A beginner's technique will negate the benefits of fancy mic pre's. If you make decent equipment sound good first, you'll more wisely spend your money on equipment later.

I got one for Xmas and did my first ever solder with it - a busted wire on my SM57. Ahhhh, isn't that special?

Re: cheap headphone amps
I've got the Presonus one - its about $80. I picked that over the cheaper Rolls because 1) less noisy 2) its got a 'mono' switch 3) you can run your nearfield monitors out of it and switch them off/on and have a seperate volume designated just for that.

Oh, yeah..... your room contributes to your interpretation of your near-fields - even if they're only 2 inches from your head. Use the search function on this board and use keywords like "bass trap" "bass treatment" "room treatment." Should be an ocean of info for you. Sometimes, I'll slice off guit...

Re: ADAT equivalent
I love my Korg D1200 (they make the D1600 for not much more $). Plus, I learned everything I know on it from a super-rad user forum: korgstudios.com. Korg D1200 costs $850 brand new, and that includes a cd burner.
