Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
I dig those Eastman's. I wish I could put my hands on one somewhere around here. What's the weight like? It’s about 8 lbs. I was looking at one with a bigsby but after reading some complaints about the extra weight and balance issues, I went with the stop tail. It plays pretty well right out of the...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
Just picked up one of these Eastman guitars. I’m pretty impressed with the build quality, and they’re a fraction of the price of a “real” 335.

Re: Smart cable hanging solution?
I coil mine and use velcro ties and hang them on these Ikea things. Each one holds a lot of cables.

Re: "harsh frequencies"
My room sucks. No way around it. Every time I get out to my car, it's anyone's guess on how things will sound. Especially the balance of low end stuff. My room is treated, but far from ideal. There’s a sizeable dip around 100Hz, and some other anomalies due to the dimensions and shape of the room. ...

Re: New Barn Studio build out
Another +1 on Rod's book. The only thing I would add (and if memory serves, the book addresses it), is that you'll want to make sure the structure can handle all that extra weight up there. There are span calculators that can help you sort that out. Looking forward to seeing this progress!

Three EV 635a’s for $50/ea Canadian. AND my wife just surprised me with an AEA R84 she bought from Tobin Sprout for my birthday. Blown away.

Re: Hearing Imbalance
I'm actually going through a pretty traumatic hearing loss in my right ear right now due to a sudden virus. It was down 30 db and distorted almost overnight. It's back up about 10 dis now, but it's a long term recovery that's a 50/50 chance of being permanent. I won't know for months until the viru...

Re: Editing playlist groups when not the selected (top) playlist
There’s probably an easier way to do it, but I would select the “all” group at the bottom left, select a playlist, tab to the first transient of the drum machine, hit command+E to create an edit point, select everything to the right of that edit point, then drag that section back to where you want t...

Re: Rackmount gear, proximity & interference
Cool, sounds like you've made a bit of progress with it. Also, I wasn't attempting to crap all over Aurora Audio, but thought I should share my experience in the interest of transparency. I do still use the unit regularly. Digging through my old notes, I found this recap of some basic troubleshootin...

Re: Rackmount gear, proximity & interference
I have the same issue with my GTQ-2. Channel 2 has a lot more of the hum than the other. Like 5-10db. Can’t remember to what extent I tried to troubleshoot this, but I seem to recall still having some hum (however less) with the unit completely out of the rack. I reached out to Geoff Tanner/Aurora a...

Glad I'm not the only one who has experienced this. I'm going to keep monitoring it for a couple of days, and look into the options y'all have mentioned here. Thanks for chiming in!

Hearing Imbalance
I'll try to keep this short. Yesterday I was doing a routine flushing out of the ears while in the shower. Nothing crazy, a few blasts of medium/low pressure warm water in each ear. Followed by a very careful cleaning with q-tips. A few minutes later I noticed my left ear was a bit muffled in compar...
