Re: kick drum flutter
Sounds to me as the pedal is bouncing on the and of 3. Not on the 1 or the 3.

Re: Share any customized shortcuts / workflows for Pro Tools (or other DAWs)
only last year did I learn I could right click to name a bus on Pro Tools.
That was pretty handy. Not as handy as number 3 to record but still handy.

Re: 1 vs 2 Displays
Ever since I got progressive lenses in my glasses I find it best to keep things in one spot instead of spread out. But you can get computer glasses that give a more consistent focus over a short viewing distance. This has been my experience and that's why I commented against the idea of 2 monitors ...

Re: 1 vs 2 Displays
Having 2 screens set up vertically could end up putting strain on your neck. I know it would be hard for me.

Re: RIP Chris Garges @cgarges
I got to know Chris like a lot of you guys on here. He was always cool and good with the information. In 2011 I produced a band from the Charlotte area called South 85 and we did the record at Old House with Chris. He was a wonderful guy and I feel very lucky I got to work on that record with him. V...

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....
https://i.imgur.com/3O8p9GC.jpg Got this RCA 77 D from Reverb. We have a great DX at Cowboy Technical but I wanted one for home. The seller JDMSales on Reverb was a drag. Came with a frayed cable and an antiquated Cannon connector (neither in the description) but I'm still mighty glad I got it. Thi...

Re: Critique drum sound?
I like it.
In the future I'd try one of those fuzzy beaters on the kick and also give a full front head (with no hole) a try.

Re: The battle against sibilance
I asked a couple mastering guys once.... how in the hell do you reach into a complete mix and fix that sibilance?

Re: Clip-On Tuners?
The only clip on tuner that's worth a damn and built not to break immediately is the TC Electronics one.
I use them at home and in the studio period.

Re: Best mic for acoustic in live setting?
I toured with a well known songwriter for five years. We had a full crew, our own sound people, backline people etc. The guy had great guitars. He had the K&K pickup and internal microphone setup with a high end channel strip type preamp for the DI and the internal mic. I really love the K&K pickup ...

It puts the mic too close to the skin.
It doesn't have to.

Re: Mic stands in 2022?
The heavy duty Atlas stand with the suspension in it is still a great one. I think everybody ought to have at least one for their 'good' vocal mic. Super solid and stable. https://vintageking.com/atlas-ms25e-pro-microphone-stand-w-air-suspension-ebony The Triad-Orbit stuff is mighty good too. Next l...

Re: Anyone ever use one of these kick mic mounts?
Both of the kicks I have the internal mics in have some holes in the shells from older mounts (tom mount on the Premier, marching band harness on the 26" Ludwig). A lot of older kicks may also have some holes where the legs have been replaced or where an on the drum ride cymbal stand was. The air ho...

Re: Anyone ever use one of these kick mic mounts?
As a guy who really loves the sound and the response of a 2 headed kick drum with no hole in it I have been using a much less complicated version of an internal kick mic for most of the records cut at our place for over 20 years. The mount is a simple job that attaches to the nuts on the inside of t...
