Re: Is reason worth the money?
I am not into synths and electronic music, but I have used reason quite a lot with the reason samplers. I think they are pretty good and the sample library on it's own is pretty nice. I also use it in rewire with Cubase SX. I can't compare it to anything else but I have heard from quite a few engine...

Re: getting started on computers...
If you want to use you board for mixing, then your hardware will need outs for each channel that you want to use on the board. A lot of hardware has a couple of stereo outs and they expect that you will be mixing in the computer. If this is the way you want to work, then your board will not serve mu...

Re: Dvd Burners
I used to just buy the cheapest CD ROM and burners. But I have had at least three of them fail on me and while they can be replaced by even cheaper hardware since when I bought them, I am sick of having it crap out at the least opportune times. So my advice is this: Buy a Sony or Memorex. I have had...

Re: simple midi footswitch?
The 1/4 inch jack style footswitch usually doesn't have anything to do with MIDI per se (I say usually as a discalimer, I haven't seen any that are MIDI) They are simply a switch, on or off. They can be used with a variety of devices and if your hardware has a jack for a footswtich that works this w...

Computer Amp Simulator for Bass
Looking for a good amp simulator for bass for the PC, I have tried Guitar Rig but it is really laggy on my system (A P4 2.8, 512 RAM, and a TASCAM USB428) and it doesn't sound that good to me (could be all the snap crackle pop from the poor performance) Any suggestions? I am pretty competent PC user...

Re: Mixing from Analog to Computer Files HELP ME!!!!
Some more details might help, like what program are you using to record with. You have to make sure that the correct input is enabled so the pc/progrma knows what to record.

Re: Spyware Cleaners - Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D and CWShredd
I hate spyware, it is nasty shite! They spy ware can easily trick even savy users into inadvertantly installing them, some of the message boxes are worded so yes actually means no or vice versa. Other spy ware requires you to download the unistall program. Horseshite! Spy Ware S&D has been great for...

Re: How do you edit drums in cubase or nuendo?
I started replying thinking I have the answer but there are a couple finer points I am not sure of (and would like to know) There is an option for snapping to zero crossings which is crucial for clean edits. I was going to say use this option and edit the whole folder track, but I don't know if it w...

Re: sample rate conversion question
I have had this debate with some folks who agree that it all ends up at 44.1 in the end and CD's are going to be around for a long long time coming. It has been compared to digital photography. If your final digital picture will have a resolution of 640 pixels by 800 pixels, what is the point of doi...

Re: Making My Demo
I was always happy with my Echo Audio GINA, which is pretty cheap these days. I now own a tascam US428, a little more money but it is pretty clean, it's little sister US228(I think) is 200 bucks I believe. Everyone will have some oppinion on monitors and in the low range nothing is going to be witho...

Re: Propellerhead's Reason
here here on the rock solid, I don't think reason by itself has ever caused me a problem other than occasionally wanting to see the sound bank cd's again (for no good reason) I have thought of this technique but I haven't tried it, anyone think it will work? When you export your mix, export as a sur...

Re: A hand full of small cool edit probs that aremakin me CR
hould the 2 channels on my hardware mixer be paned hard L/R, or should they both be at 12 o'clock Yes, this way everythin coming out of CEP 1 (or the left stereo field) will also come out of the left side of your mixer and vice versa. This would apply to any stereo source going into your mixer like...

Re: Technique for distorted guitar pads under acoustics??
The ebow is a little handheld device about the size of a roll of quarters. It emits some kind of a magnetic field that causes the strings to vibrate, kind of like touching the headstock of the guitar to an amplifier that is turned up really loud, but much more controllable. There is no attack and yo...

Re: Propellerhead's Reason
I am not sure if you can run effects on reason instruments (before converting them to audio) in DP, I know you can in Cubase SX. I do this so I can get an idea of how it is sounding before I dump them down to actual audio files. I can't get the waves plugings working happily until they are audio, it...
