Re: basement studio/low ceiling
Cutting between the joist is a great idea. If you are going to do that I would recommend building Ethans traps into those cut outs, or at least using the corning 703 in the joint space. It's well worth the money. Do you have room to float a cloud above the console to absorb reflections from the spea...

Phantom Power!
Hello Team
I have some outboard pre-amps that I have racked up and I am in the market to get a stand alone phantom power supply.
Here is my question. Is there a difference in phantom power providers?
If I get a cheap supply, will it effect the performance of my mic?
Thanks

Re: basement studio/low ceiling
Build Ethan's basetraps. This will help a lot. I have a larger set up of your studio. The traps make a world of difference. Put some on the ceiling as well.

Bob from Eurotubes is amazing, he know everything. Send him an e-mail and ask him your questions. He loves his job. I use him for everything with a tube.

Re: Sonic Maximizers
A friend of mine uses SM's to run his outboard effects through. He runs a signal out via the Aux Send, into a reverb, into an SM and then returns into channel faders for one more round of EQ. He loves the way it cleans up some of those murky reverbs. I don't use SM's anymore because of the whoe phas...

Re: 703 panel trap construction advice
I just built some traps for my basement and the difference is AMAZING. Use a spray adhesive to adhere the fabric. Before you buy the fabric, get some samples and hold them up to your ear when you listen to music in the room. Check and see if the fabic changes the sound. Different fabrics absorb more...

E-MU's Vinatage Keys and Classic Keys are great and they go for cheap on E-Bay.

Rack 'em up!
For those of you that have racked your own gear, have you found an inexpensive place that will make a custom rack for a project?
I'm considering a mod to an old box that I have, but that can be such a pain in the ass for a guy who doesn't have a shop.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Sonic Maximizers
A producer/mastering engineer here in Portland asked me if I ran the mono drum mix (single mic recording) into a sonic maximizer when he was mastering an album of mine. The answer was "Yes I did, how did you know?" He explained to me that SM's throw a bunch of stuff in and out of phase and that some...

EchoPlex
Hi Team
Does anyoneknow where I can get a replacement tape cartridge for an EchoPlex? How long do they last? This cartridge is a mess.
