Re: Does the DAW interface I want exist?
Basically my needs boil down to this: Mic pre's, assorted line level stuff (synth, tape machine, etc) ---> line inputs on USB interface ---> computer I used some more creative search terms and found a company called ESI that make this: https://www.esi-audio.com/products/u168xt/ I'm checking to see ...

Re: Does the DAW interface I want exist?
I take it you don't want to mess with an interface and ADAT expansion going to another piece of equipment?

Re: Best interface to build your singer/songwriter workflow around
I've been using the Tascam Series 208i interface.
Seems like it would cover a good bit of what you've mentioned, and it has worked out pretty well for me thus far.

Re: FOAM MONITOR STANDS
I'd like you to share thoughts on foam stands. I've got a pair of Yamaha HS7's. The stands that i see advertised seem to be pricey for what they actually are. Worth it? While I get this being the gut reaction? I tend to think about it like a more "Pricey..." set of guitar pickups. It always seems l...

Re: Deluxe Yankee Hotel- a production master class
i will have to check that out, it is a fantastic album, definitely a seminal record of that time/band. personally i think Jay Bennett is the unsung hero of that album even though he was vilified in the documentary "i am trying to break your heart". he was kicked out of the band and they never sound...

Re: Deluxe Yankee Hotel- a production master class
YHF is such a cool blending of Jay Bennett and Jim O’Rourke, not to mention a great band and inspired songs. I’m just getting into this release, and agreed, it’s a high lesson in production and making great (and bold) choices. I remember at the time of its release being bummed that it wasn’t Summer...

Re: Y cable on top+bottom Tom mics
Do you have a console with groups? Not anymore. My exploration of this idea came partially out of the fact that I’m gonna be relying predominantly upon a pair of 8ch I/Os and with a prog rock drum kit & vocals, keys, guitars, Tom mics might get combined / also have always been curious about the top...

Re: Recording Vocal Tracks without headphones
I think I'm going to try to see if a Shure SM7B will work (they have much better rejection than a condenser) and maybe that will get me a slightly better track. Some tracks were recorded at another studio (with even more bleed) so I may not have a choice there unless I can talk the client into re-r...

Re: Opinions on Aux Channel Distortion (Was Plasma Pedal)
If it's "Along The Lines Of The PAIA..."?
It seems like a company called Iron Ether made a pedal called the QF2 for a bit that seems like it might be along the same line as the Quadrafuzz.

Re: 246 v 424
There are always people who chime in to the cassette multi-track threads and suggest not using a a cassette multitrack. I get it but they miss the point and it's really not helpful to the questions at hand. Anyway.... I can't really comment one way or the other on the machines in question. Most of ...

Re: 246 v 424
Curious to hear from those having experience with 246 and 424 (MK I, II, or III) portastudios. Already have the 424, but have GAS for a 246 and wonder if I should pursue that. Straight talk... Heck no. You probably should not even have bought a 424. (Not trying to throw mud all over your parade. Ju...

Hey...
Voice of TOMB past here.
Remember the Alesis Modfx Smashup? Heck, you might even have one knocking around somewheres...
Those last two modes on the bottom?
From memory, those will occasionally toss you a rope when you are painted into that "WWTBD?..." corner.

My first Catalinbread effect pedal. The Sabbra Cadabra. It sounds absolutely wickedly devastatingly good. Got the blemished special edition with the purple artwork. Just to point this out... This is the Creepy Fingers version of that design. It is no joking matter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g...

Re: Media and used gear prices - for those who use p-p-pedals
That is like the rare instance where I will see another Digitech Brian May Signature pedal going for dumb money somewhere... Did I love mine when it actually was not "Dillinger..." dead? Did I love my PDS8000 before it started playing "Don't Bury Me... I'm Not Dead!..." Sure. Big fan of both. Is the...
