Re: Robert Johnson
Most articles I've read guess that by facing a corner either Robert was trying to keep anyone from stealing his style(didn't Eddie Van Halen do that when he first started tapping?) or to get a more mid-range heavy tone. One article even went so far as to suggest he was trying to get close to electri...

Re: new bands to listen to
Grand Champeen, Life at Sea, The Deathray Davies and Lil' Capn' Travis are the first bands that come to mind. However, The Swords Project and The Gloria Record are also worth checking out.

Re: Favorite Punk Rock Harmonies
The complete lack of the ability to sing harmony on any live version of "I love livin in the city" by Fear was always pretty gnarly. Otherwise, the Buzzcock or the Descendents are always amazing.

Re: WTB: Peavey VMP-2
I have a VMP-2 that I'd be willing to sell. I'll check all of the functions to make sure it's still in good shape. Let me know if you are interested.

Re: Clearchannel drops Stern
The real peach on yesterdays(thursdays show) had nothing to do the nineteen year old or her talent. It was Sterns response to the caller right before she came on. I've been giving my brother a lift to work. So, on Thursday we tuned in just as the caller was making some reference to school(not sure w...

Actually, the J. Mascis thing may have changed. On Feels so Free, the publishing is listed as: orange marmalade, lettuce and cream cheese music. Now that's a sandwich.

Crow, is the routing on the Line 6 fixed? I might consider picking one up if it means my dreams of spam and pita on spinach could finally become reality.

Re: LAST DAYS OF APRIL
Angel Youth is the record to get. Lots of snazzy orchestration(harpsichord, phaser racket, more harpsichord) It's very interesting that they made a very orchestral pop record that doesn't leave out that my bloody valentine made loveless in the time since pet sounds came out.

Re: Unusual Reverbs
Inverse, the wedge is pretty difficult to beat from a bang vs. buck standpoint. It has either 127 or 128 factory as well as 127 or 128 user presets. Interesting factory preset names: Titanic Depth, Hall Closet, Shower stall, and Ringy stairwell. I've never had one reason to gripe about the wedge. Al...

Re: lap steel vs. pedal steel
If it's an issue of not being sure you'll be comfortable with the technical aspects(playing lap style, bar vs. slide), you might be better of with a cheap lap steel than a pedal to start off with. If you play guitar. this may be a way to look at pedal steel that makes some sense. It seems like pedal...

Re: What are we all currently groovin' too??
I saw a few people mentioned the Beachwood Sparks. They might want to check out Lonsome and Loosin(sp?) by Lil'Capn Travis. The songs are great and the sounds are really amazing(lots of over-the-top fuzz passages in the middle of the quiet songs) It's worth checking out just to hear the song "Cowgir...

Re: Billy Anderson
That the band were not happy with the London/Sardy version really does seem to be the case. Not only has Dopesmoker been released but, I think rise above records put out a version with band endorsed art, ect. Besides, there have been many cases where label have tried to change/get an artist to chang...

Actually, I think tape op even did an interview with stephen. I think he may have said he used a JCM 800 50 watt head and a compressor pedal.

Re: Decendents "Everything Sucks" Guitar sound
I've heard Stephen tell people at shows that most of the Everything Sucks/Mass Nerder guitars sound is one Shure sm-81. I'm not sure if he was putting them on but that's what he said.

Ithica Gin's 8-track cassette record. Brent from Slobberbone's song on the Bandkit's compilation. Lot's of songs by Centro-matic/South San Gabriel.
