Yo Mike, if you still need help, send me your files and I'll take a look when I get a free moment this week. I've had pretty good luck with this open source player, which is easy to customize: http://musicplayer.sourceforge.net/ ...so depending on what you have, we may be able to make use of that. A...

Thanks Dave for the pointers on the Electrical site. Someone just posted a Midget 50h for sale locally which I'm looking into right now. From what I've read online, they are a tiny version of the Mig50H, but according to one of the former Sovtek engineers, "has all the bugs worked out." Anyhow I'll ...

I've never heard a Univox I liked. I had a couple of their PA heads that were decent for rehearsal for the price. Any of the guitar amps I've heard have not been good. I had a friend who played one for years who always had terrible tone. It broke and the shop gave him a Fender as a loaner. Luckily,...

I recently got a sovtek mig 60 and am right in the middle of tracking a song with it. I am running it through a marshall 1960 slant cab with greenbacks, I think its sounds really good and very "marshall-ish" in fact I have a marshall 25/50 that sounds less marshally than it does. http://www.everybo...

I haven't been too crazy about the bandmasters I've heard in the past, but I thought the Ampegs sound interesting. i have an ampeg vt-22, the same circuit used in the V4 head. the ampegs are STUPID loud but totally clean. you'll need a pedal to get any gain with it. I suspect they would sound like ...

Wow, thanks for all the great suggestions. You guys rule! Interesting about the Sovteks. It seems like a lot of the ones I've heard in the past (the past being 10+ years ago) were not the best sounding, but maybe they were some of the off models? I'll definitely check into the other amps. As for it ...

I have an Avatar 4x12 cab that I run my '71 Orange head through, and I think it might have been one of the best purchases I have made in my life, maybe even moreso than the Orange. Nice! Did you get it with greenbacks or celestions? Their prices are really good for the options they provide....

Guitar geeks, help me find an amp
There is a chance I might be moving from drums to guitar in my band. Of course, this gives me license to start shopping for an amp even though it's not for sure, because, well, I like gear. It's been awhile since I played guitar in a rock band and I've since sold off my loud tube amp, which I will f...

Either way, that is one of the sweetest looking kits ive ever seen. Thanks, Ken. I am happy with them too. Funny thing is, I was originally wanting these restored for my loud, hardcore band, but now that I've found a kit with bigger maple shells for that band, this one will become my studio kit and...

Yeah, I agree. The guy I took them to does recut to original spec on vintage kits, so all is well on that front. To address the previous wood grain concerns, I was a bit concerned about how they would look with the different strips of wood (the tech warned me about it but also said it was a look he ...

Alright, well I finally got the drums back yesterday and I am stoked. Not only do they sound amazing, but they look beautiful. Can't wait to play the full kit once I bring my cymbals home from the practice space: http://www.workshedaudio.com/rogerskit/index.htm He added a nice touch by making one of...

Recording Studio Construction in Portland area
Hey All- I'm thinking about adding another room next to my studio space as a tracking room with some isolation/amp closets and a separate entrance. I'm wondering if anyone knows of knowledgeable, licensed contractors in the Portland, OR area who specialize in studio construction. The guy who built o...
