hey settle down now! naw for reals though. I guess I expected everyone to chime in with their fond memories of Tascam. Spill a little out for our homies and so on. But it's kind of slowed down a little around here lately. What happened, everybody get jobs? I guess I'll register my gratitude to Tasca...

the h4n will do 4 tracks, but two of those are going to come from the built in mics (which are ok...)or through the camera mic 1/8th jack. So it wont be what you are looking for if you are thinking of pulling a 4 buss mix off of a sound board. I used to use a 4 track cassette deal that was rack moun...

I've owned one for about 18 years. It is an autoformer that only has about half a dozen taps. So it will make audible sounds when it is "riding" the input voltage, in an attempt to reach its target 117 VAC. I have heard mine make a persistent low freq hum when there was a ground issue or other wirin...

Gibson buys Tascam. RIP.
Anyone who recalls Opcode, Tobias, KRK, or any other once great brands, will know this is the death knell.

post console
I made the switch to console-less recording about 3 years ago. At the time I was really trying to get the cleanest possible signal and the shortest signal path. it did open up the sound a bit to disintermediate the mixer form the signal path. And my MOTU 8282MKII has front panel knobs for main out a...

nice, thanks. That is what I thought. As with tube power amps, changing things is constrained by the power supply. I was just hopping that adcom had used the same PS in both. I may just keep it stock for a while longer. It still sounds immensely better than the SR power amp I had used before. Sure i...

jeez I would love to get back the hearing I had when I was younger. Before I ever started playing drums or bass in loud punk rock bands, or before I started going to loud hardcore, punk and metal shows. I swear I used to hear harmonics in door squeaks and other mundane objects that I do not anymore....

For those wishing more bass extension in their Adcom amps, replacing the gain set 47 uf cap with a 100 or 220 uf/100V cap with quality film bypass caps will remove all the phase shift and extends bandwidth to below 2 hz. For greater bass energy, replace the 10,000 uf caps in a 545 with 22,000 uf ca...

I'll have to check out the A&H GL stuff. I don't really need the firewire either, but it might be nice to have an extra set of digital ins and outs, assuming i could run it with my ufx. problem that a some folks run into when using multiple interfaces is that even when they are synced by wordclock ...

I've already got a pretty decent firewire box. If I was going to get anything along those lines I would be loooking for thunderbolt or USB3.0. Firewire seems to be going the way of SCSI and AGP. I am partial to the A&H boards. Out of all the budget boards I've used for live sound those and the Sound...

not so much a mackie price point, but I do admire the Mackie form factor. The 1604 is a great size. The Mackie 8 buss mixers are even pretty decent for functionality I guess I am looking at an A&H if I buy new. They have some reasonably priced 16 and 24 channel SR boards that have enough inserts and...
