I've had this for a few years now. A former band mate traded a beat up Sonic's lp I'd bought from him for for $5 for this 1973. He got it when he was working at the local shop and feeling guilty for some bad band behavior that ended up with me breaking my 68 Special. Nearly hit him over the head wit...

CD Baby is great income stream for my label. The good thing is, people browse and buy at CDB. Just putting stuff on iTunes via any digi distro doesn't mean anyone is gonna buy your own noise. You know how many bands/artists have stuff there? If you have an audience who want to buy your stuff, then t...

I've found this discussion very helpful. I have this 1973 SG that someone decided to "customize". http://www.careerrecords.com/images/images/Gibson%20SG%20Standard.jpg You can't really see the micro switches under the Bigsby arm. The wooden hippie pickguard is a hoot too. I put the Bigsby on it a fe...

http://careerrecords.com/images/images/Subway-Danelectro%2012.jpg I got this from Subway in the late 80's. It's NOS parts. Beautiful guitar, and it plays like a champ. Also got a Dano bass made from parts. Very nice too. The guitar he sold to Jimmy Page was some sort of prototype. I used to buy stu...

I'm not selling my Jazzmaster, but I'd suggest looking for a mid 80's Japanese reissue. Beautiful guitars...

I like the M-Tron a lot. that said the Abbey Road keys melotron thing eats it alive. (but you have to use Reason to get it) Mostly 'cause of the way the samples have been recorded (out of a Mellotron, into an AC 30, miced in the room) Wish they had a better screen shot of the M-Tron Pro on that rev...

I got a passable sound from my Peavey keys. Add a short delay to the sound and it helps too. It's never really gonna sound like Nicky Hopkins though

It's easy, but unless I'm in front of the board I can't remember. I think you need to push the line in button at the top of the strip. I use the B section for efx returns all the time. It's very handy. I like to have the efx for an instrument coming in on the same channel strip. It saves looking up ...

By coincidence, there is a maintenance article in the new issue of Mix. Eddie C discusses the 301 and Echoplex. I think it would apply to any tape echo.

I bought it of course. figured i'd have doubts and regrets either way so it was better just to own it. it can self oscillate, is clean as a whistle and sounds dreamy. No extra tapes and no footwswitch. anyone know where to get footswitch and extra tape? I just bought a generic one button swi...

Congrats. I have an ax80, which is kind of the big daddy in that family. If the 73 is anything like the 80, you can make better patches than the presets, deaf and with one hand cut off. However, if you want to try the factory crap, have you tried calling Akai? They seem to be good about supporting ...

There was a time when there was a stack of 201's at Trading Musician in Seattle, for about $200 each. I paid that much for the first one I got...around here. I think so? I found a 301 three or four years ago. A guy had put a notice up at the music store. He decided to give up music for painting. I n...
