I have been using Adobe Audition (aka Cool edit pro) on my windows machine to make samples for my Roland sp-808 sampler- however I now do almost everything on my Mac. I am looking for wave editor similar to cool edit (or the competant shareware goldwave) for the mac os. The wave editor in DP just is...

aka - you get what you pay for. Unfortunately the power supplies on these boards are skimpy - they use the cheapest components they can find to cut costs. I have seen the filter caps explode like missles coming out of a silo - bad solder joints, terrible feeling pots, faders get real dirty real fast...

I agree - go the motu route. I can not speak fondly enough of DP - if you are using synths and samplers, this is the way to go, since the Midi and VST instruments (once you get the wrapper program) are right there in the program.
