Why is he coming to you if you don't have the stuff he thinks is necessary? I've been in this situation before: Someone comes to me because they are impressed with the work that I have done, and then they try to make me use equipment that I am not comfortable with, use methods that I've never used b...

0dbVU is 1.223 volts, but you were measuring 0dbFS. It's two different things. You need to go the other way and send a 0dbVU signal out of your mixer and into the Lynx. Then look on your input meter in your DAW and see what it reads. It will probably read somewhere between -15 and -18dbfs in your DA...

Try setting the tempo to 'track'.

I'm just guessing at this point.

Just off the top of my head, do you have the midi track time based or musically based? (I don't do much midi either) With audio, you have to have the button on the channel lane set to the musical note instead of the clock. Then it should work.

I had a couple mics like that and I just cut the cord and put a male XLR on it so I could just use a normal mic cable to hook it to the snake.

I just made an Amphenol to xlr connector and got on with the gettin' on.

The May system works OK for live. Personally, I don't like the sound of a snare drum miced from the inside. All of the drums miced that way had the same problem that you sometimes get micing a kick drum without any baffling... that basketball sound of the sound of the drum bouncing around a cylinder...

I've tried the top and bottom micing thing. I couldn't figure out what the bottom mic was supposed to give me that I couldn't get out of the top mic.

I'm normally pretty please with my tom sounds.

It's probably a tuning issue and/or a technique issue. If the drums are tuned high and they ring forever and the drummer just taps lightly on them, all the EQ and compression in the world isn't going to fix it. Tune the drums so they don't ring and hit them in such a way that it creates the attack y...

I do about the same thing as kslight. However, the sound you need from the instruments will depend a lot on the style of music and the sounds you start out with. With layers of distorted guitars, I tend to send them all to a group buss and EQ the group buss. I will tend to record the guitars a littl...

The first thing you need to do is put new strings on it. That will give you the brightness. The rest of that tone will come from your fingers and a good deal of compression.

Being dyslexic, I thought it said you were looking for a Talentometer.. I could use one of those when I'm deciding what to charge new clients. :)

First, I double my fee. That's one of the ways to get excited about a salvage operation. But even at that, by the time I'm done rescuing the tracks, I have a hard time switching gears and getting into creative mix mode. Especially when I have other projects scheduled and the salvage project takes tw...

The two DAW's might play back at a slightly different speed, but it doesn't matter because you are not trying to run them at the same time, like you were the drum machine.

It doesn't change the timing of the wav files at all. One second of audio will be one second of audio on both machines.
