question for portlanders

What is the best electronics parts store in town, I can't seem to find one and I do not want to drive out to norvac in beaverton. Any help would create high levels of awesome.

Here is an update on my issue if anyone has any futher insight. So when I power the unit up, even if I am feeding it no signal and the threshold is at +10, which is its maximum setting. The gain reduction light is all the way to 25. After its on for about 5 minutes it starts to go down to zero gain ...

I may try this on a compressor i am going to recap, if there is no room on the underside of the pcb due to the way its mounted to the case is it fine to leave some longer leads on the electrolytics and wedging the bypass caps under there on the top of the board?

that is what I am thinking, the guy that I bought this from just sold me two cl-100s for 60 dollars which do work properly. I have doubled my outboard compressors in the last two days. :twisted:

haha yes, I will have the threshold at say... -10 and will be getting no gain reduction while the level is higher than that though. If i move the threshold slightly it will all of a sudden be a huge amount of gain reduction, and this is regardless of where I set the ratio. I know how to work a compr...

I just picked one of these up fairly cheap. It does not seem to be working properly though. It either does not compress or will give me like -18db of gain reduction. yes, all of the bands I worked with at the start, where bands my old band was playing with, bands I was helping book shows for. I work with alot of punk/hardcore bands. They like to know you are on their side.

"real world" reference monitors

what is everyone using, I am looking at options similar to avatone mix cubes, but I would like something active, and 400 dollars seems a little steep for something that seems to be geared toward not sounding good. What are people using, boomboxes? pc speakers? give me cheap ideas.
