My wife, also from Ithaca, picked mushrooms with her mother (who lives in EcoVillage, I'm sure you know of it).
Great job, Amigo.

some condenser mics just don't wanna grip the pins on some cables right, change the cable and you will prolly be fine. I have that problem with a load of phony Neutrik ends I got off ebay. all dynamics work just fine, but AT condensers won't fit on the ends, and two of my phantom power DIs act sketc...

I have a MIK Casino, too, and HAD to replace one of the pots. it had a finiky ground connection and would sometimes open circuit in the middle of playing it if you were using the rear pickup. It's not too tough of a gig if you remove the rear pickup and have a dime store pair of surgical clamps ( I ...

Cool thing about a lot of Pro DIs like the Baggs and the Fishman: besides the XLR out, they usually put out a 1/4" output, too. Lotsa folks have those Fender tweed reissues these days, and they feature a "Power Amp In" 1/4" jack that bypasses all the knobs. You can go from the Pre to that input and ...

if it's a typical bar where people will likely have no respect for a musician playing quietly, run the guitar through the amp. If you think people will be respectful, I (as a house guy for a rock club where people often will be if the artist and booking are right) like to use both the signal from th...

I tried to UTFSF, but came up with nothing, so I thought I post- someone scream "REPOST!" if it already went around.

I can kinda see that the wires are cut that lead to the output jacks, my guess is the switch had a couple of resistors on it to drop levels, and it's not on the input side. A better photo, would help a lot. get a stand for the camera, or more light on the subject so the camera takes a quicker less b...

even though I have infinity tracks on the 'puter, I still use subgroups to combine two mics onto one track. sometimes a little bottom mic helps a snare track, and having the bottom on an extra track just isn't necessary. Sometimes I do kick with 90% one mic and 10% the other. easy-peasy with subgrou...

allowing myself to take some extra time setting drums up. I used to worry way too much about making a band happy by working fast. Truth is, bands don't mind a reasonable time setting up drums, It's just that my place was small and I was overly sensitive to every little bit of body language from othe...
