Hey Justin, Well, I'm still not entirely sure what my favorite is yet for my own vocals. thing is, my own stuff is secondary to the studio's needs when it comes to the clients. I'm always searching for another color, another flavor. Even if the Faust FET isn't exactly like a FET 47 (and it is awfull...

Neumann U 47 FET vs. HCL Faust FET

I just got back from a series of orchestral sessions I did out in Kiev at an amazing studio called DZZ. The chief technician happens to be the person who designs and builds Hand crafted Labs mics. I had actually received a matched pair of their Faust IIs before leaving for Ukraine. I was thinking of...

The engineer/soundguy side of me agrees with a lot of what he's saying, but the punk rock side does not. For example if you're working with an underground band that's pooled its savings to make the album they've dreamed of for the past year, or years, or lives, then you can't go "underdubbing" part...

It truly is a great book and worth re-reading a few times. For anyone interested, the latest episode of my podcast features an interview with Mixerman:

Re: Stupid Mac Pro Tools Shortcuts Question

Go to System Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard tab and check the box that says something like "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard Function keys."

DreamHire is the best. They're literally right down the street and we've been using them for years. They'll ship anywhere.

Well, I think you didn't mean to imply that Peluso or Joly are notorious in any way, perhaps noteworthy but they're certainly not notorious. Also, I think they might branch out into other parts at some point?who knows. This is probably an initial offering. Further, as far as Chinese capsules go, whe...

Hmm? how much are Peluso's K47s? Not "screamingly cheap" but not that expensive, FWIW. I'll probably pick up a pair for shits & giggles.
