Logic 8 Studio is a ridiculously great app.
The learning curve is high, because it's an incredibly deep program. It makes PT look like a walkman with a "record" button.
It's the best all-around DAW there is. Eventually, everyone will come around to that opinion.

Why does a Drawmer pre-amp cost 2500, but an ART costs 300? Because the Drawmer is better made and sounds way better. Why does a Mercedes cost four times as much as a Ford Escort? Because the Mercedes is a better car in every way. But they're both cars right? That's a specious argument. The price o...

bounce the tracks individually as wave or SDII files using the same starting place for each track in the bounce and then import them into Pro Tools.

most of the people making the argument against this are those who have the luxury to do so. I'm a musician. That's all I am. I need to make a living. I wouldn't make a lifelong habit of selling songs to commercials, but I'd do it once or twice if it meant paying my bills for a year or more, which is...

You're almost right: Van Halen used to tune down a half step to accomodate Dave's limited vocal range; after he quit they made a big deal out of saying they no longer had to do that with Sammy. Dozens of guitar magazine interviews from the period back this up. I remember Eddie saying it was nice to...

No Ilok
Incidentally, there is no dongle copy protection on Logic 8. It's serial number only. I saw someone complain about Ilok on this thread.

Go with Logic Express.
Garageband is based on Logic- you can open Garageband files with Logic. Logic can use all the same plugs and software instruments you're getting with Garageband.
Anyway, Logic IS a bit "overbuilt", but I still think it's the best DAW out there, hands down.

Pretty much anybody who makes a living from intellectual property should disagree with your argument. In fact, let's also include those who make their livings from helping those who make livings from intellectual property. Like maybe... recording engineers. I don't long to live in your Utopian soci...

Oh my god, I can't believe LE still doesn't have plugin delay compensation. Why is that too much to ask of Digidesign, for christ's sake? Logic Pro AND Express has had that for years now.
GET IT TOGETHER DIGIDESIGN.

There's dubdelay- forgot the people who make it, and there's Audio Damage's delay plugin- BOTH are freeware, and pretty good.

This has been answered a lot, but you can't wrap RTAS to any other format- Digidesign won't allow it- but you CAN wrap AUs and VSTs to RTAS format- there are apps for that. The only way you could do it is through rewire- for example, if you're running Logic with a digidesign interface/converter, and...
