A buddy of mine recently found one of the blackface Realistic 7-bands after a long search. He said he had read about it on here years ago, and had his eye out in pawn shops ever since. So he finally finds one (don't even ask me what he paid for it), brings it back to the studio, and hooks it up. Bum...

Re: Best Digital Drum Machine?

Great, thanks. Any suggestion on a tape simulator VST? I don't know the budget VST field very well. I've heard UAD's Studer plug-in, and it is amazing: http://www.uaudio.com/store/special-processing/studer-a800-tape-recorder.html Not cheap, though, and requires their hardware. Also heard good thing...

OK, then I would second the suggestion of EZDrummer.

Follow it up with some tape simulator set for 15 or even 7.5 IPS if you wanna get Velvety...

Do you want something for recording, or for playing with live?

This was fun! http://tapeop.leighmarble.com/audio_pub/velcro_stars-leigh_marble_mix.mp3 cheers, Leigh EDIT: I forgot that Stephen and the band had asked us to share notes and thoughts about the mix. I had a listen back to my mix today, and I'm still digging it. Some of the elements are presented a b...

I've been selling full-length CDs for the last 3.5 years and the sales have REALLY dwindled to almost nothing in the last year. put out a 7" EP and have already sold more records in the last 2 weeks than I've sold CDs in the last year. and it's a vinyl-only release ... no downloads and not availabl...

Thanks Leigh, I'll check that out. I'll have to open it up again to check for the trimpot. Any suggestion as to value if it doesn't have one? Maybe I should read the GS thread first before asking... I'll let you know how things go. Have a look at the datasheet for their example circuit. Looks like ...

Is it possible to do the low pass in a way that it affects the squeal, but not the signal? I have the low pass on the output, in two stages... That is a great setup for lowpass, to have that extra switchable stage. There is a mod you can do to eliminate some of that clock noise, without using more ...

With really long delay times, weird stuff starts to happen, an odd distortion along with high pitched sounds echoing lower, while low sounds remain unaffected. And this is probably aliasing, where the high pitched sounds are exceeding the Nyquist frequency when you've got the delay clock running re...

From what you're describing, the squeal is the clock signal itself leaking through. You could look for designs with a variable lowpass filter, so as you turn the delay time to be longer (and the clock's frequency lowers), the lowpass cutoff also lowers. Might be a fun mod to try.

The most convenient access-based service has the capability to slay piracy in a capitalist battle because it removes a lot of the steps required to pirate an album. Think about it - a service that means no more having to download, drag to your iPod (potentially delete some songs to make room), unpl...

Cool sounds here, the minimal setup is a great match for the material. I like your voice too, nice to hear a baritone with character like that. Reminds me a bit of Greg Brown in spots. Oh, and good of the drummer to keep the hihat out of the picture for much of the time! It really helps give tons of...

Haha...yeah, that's me (Bannny)! I posted a link to it in the OP. I swapped the IC's in the Master, Group, and half of the 24 channels (I only have an 8-track RtR). I have thought about bypassing the EQ because I really think it is the weakest part of the circuit. I would just insert an out board E...

What was mentioned about the Line In circuit just kind of being there, is more what I'm curious about. I'm satisfied with the routing, it is the sound I'm trying to improve. It's hard for me to determine how much effect the board is having during mixdown. What mine might be taking away, or what a h...

Re: Retiring the Line 6 DL4. Other Delay options with Tap Te

I'd love to ditch and sell my Line 6 DL4. It's footprint is way too large and to be honest I've never loved the thing. Well, it's still Line 6, but I like my Echo Park delay for live use. It has a small footprint, has tap tempo, and is less confusing than the DL4. It puts delay modes on one knob (q...
