Re: AKG C1000

I like it as a "variance" mic., when I want to vary the sound. For example, if I am layering acoustic parts, I'll mic. one with the C1000S. Or I'll do a backing vocal with it instead of my prime vocal mic. Of course, you should know that my other choices are cheap LD's and an SM58 and some '57 copie...

Re: Guitar Cab Emulator

I have an ADA Microcab. I like it better than the Red Box. I have the older model, which cannot take the amp speaker out, only a pre-amp level signal. Combined with a Hafler T2, I used it extensively when I lived in an apartment, and it did a decent job of giving believable, and varied, sounds, if n...

Re: How do I know what Radio Shack stuff to snag?

The tie-tack condernsor mic. makes some cool noise when clipped on acoustic guitar, and mixed with a more standard mic. I have one from about 5 years ago, powered by a watch battery. I'm not sure the latest models work as well... The SPL and multi-meters are indeed useful. I have a switch box that I...

Re: old school punk rock

Eleventh Dream Day.

True Believers.

DB's.

Drivin' and Cryin'.

Blasters.

Dream Syndicate.

Rain Parade.

Let's Active (when will this be on CD?)

All of the above are more punky then country but still have that edge, and have a bit of psychadelia, also.

Try using the onboard clock to control playback timing. You'll find it on the mixer interface. You can try changing various settings there.

Note that if you save your settings as a group set-up, you sometimes have to reload them as the mixer goes to a default each time you open it.

Re: How do you guys store your pedals?

I use an old briefcase that I inherited. The 4-5 pedals I use most are mounted on a piece of plywood with velcro and/or picture wire tied into eye-hole screws. I have the pedals far enough apart that I just patch them into the chain as needed, and they are ready for live play, also. I have a 120 v. ...

Re: distorting the vocal

"I've thought about taking up smoking to distress my voice faster, but then I probably wouldn't make it to 70. "

Yeah man, I already smoke, but I've been known to clear a 1/2 pack (and a couple cocktails) before a lead vocal, just for that rough voice, "natchural-distorto" vibe.

Re: Your favorite recorded guitar part ever?

OK, so sue me for the second post, but I wanna mention two specific solos:

Neil Young on "Cinnamon Girl." Could it be any simpler, easier or right?

Reeves Gabrels on Tin Machine's "Heaven's in Here." Could it be any more complicated, sophisticated, or wrong?

Re: behringer b1 vs. studio projects b1?

I have the Behringer B1 and find it useful in a Chinee LD kind of way, espeially for backing vocals, room on an acoustic, etc.

But as Bono, SONNY, said, and Ian Hunter did too:
"Go on and laugh at me!"

I agree with Catoogie on the TS-5 "bugg".

Also with what was said about the Real Tube.
