Re: Tascam mixer
Hi FoamyCloset, I personally thinks thats a pretty good deal (depending on how much it cost to repair whats wrong). I'm using a Tascam M-2600MkII and it's a decent board.(IMO) Pretty much what you put in what you get out deal. The pre-amps are "ok", it's a pretty big board if you have'nt seen it in ...

Re: studio financing ideas
Hi Rich !" Been there, done that", with the Mathew Lasko deal. An extremely lot of "RED TAPE" to go through! I tried and haven't get results as of yet.(been about four years ago, could be different for you). So I said forget it, by the time it happens, if ever, you'll be so old your ears will be sho...

Anyone Know What happened To Weyer/Smith Labs ?
Hi everyone ! I'm trying to find out what happened to an upgrade company called "Weyer/Smith Labs". At the time I dealt with them, (about 10-12 years ago) they did very good work. One ot the techs there, Tim Smith, a very knowledgeable, down to earth guy, and fun to talk to. I learned a lot just talk...

Re: Anyone a fan of ADAT or DA-88?
Yeah ! matter of fact I'm still using Adats. They sound ok, they've been ok. Not a lot of "problems" that required downtime or anything(knock on wood). But I am in route to getting the HD24XR!, the Adats have served me well,so I'll upgrade to hard disk for faster recording,no more tapes, better sound...

Re: Is there a difference in sound from different direct box
I've used the Behringer DI's ,I too thought they sounded fine until I got the Radial(passive Duplex),Groovetubes Ditto,Summit TD-100, Whirlwind HotBox. To my ears, there's a big difference is quality of sound. The Behringer sounds grainy and harsh in the mid and hi-end. To my ears, even though the Ra...

Re: Mixdown deck?
Here's a question I've been contemplating. I have a Masterlink that I mix down to. I also have a Tascam DA-30 dat. I use an analog console and I'm wondering, if I had external converters,(Mytek,Benchmark, etc.) for AD/DA,would recording to the dat, be better than recording straight into the Masterlin...

Re: small-diaphragm condenser microphones
Hi Poopsmith ! I was just looking at this new mic from this new company called "Kel Audio". I have not heard or seen it in person, but the company claims its a good, different sounding mic than other entry level mics. It looks good and it's Cheap! It lists for $99.00, but will be selling them for an...

Which Sounds Better?
Hi again ! Question: Which of these analog consoles sound "better"?(A) Soundcraft Ghost, (B) Mackie 8-Buss (C) Tascam M-2600MkII (D) Allen/Heath GS-3000. I have the Tascam M-2600MkII and was just wondering if it is in the same"ball park" as the others. I'm asking because you rarely hear much about t...

Well if you decide to send the project out to be mastered by someone else, I'll say, give John at Massive Mastering a shot !

Re: Letting It Bleed? (a little)
Hi Devlars ! I had a similiar project to record and ran into almost same problem. I have a 5 channel "can" amp, but needed 10 sets of cans. Don't know if it's proper, but I just went to Radio Shack and picked up 5 stereo headphone splitters, plugged each into a channel on amp.Just plug 2 sets of cans...
