Re: Songs that should not be covered

I was listening to the Plastic Ono Band album today and most of the songs on that album seem too personal to cover, especially since most of the lyrics have John's name in them somewhere.

New Order-The Perfect Kiss

Although not the most exciting music video, they really were turning knobs on their sequencers and playing their keyboards.

Re: who hates girls??

I'm in an entirely different situation...my girlfriend and I work on music together and sometimes argue about the direction a song is going in, or how things are sitting in the mix. Actually, until I have the money for a 388, I'm using her gear to record!

I love ebay. Why not spend an extra $3915000 and buy this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... egory=1607 I think missle silos would make great reverb chambers.

The DE7 is great for the money. Mine died a mysterious death, but I got a new one for $60.

Re: whats your fav recording right now, or some anyways

For the past couple weeks I've been listening to nothing but Pet Sounds, Sgt. Pepper, and Air's Talkie Walkie. After listening to these, it's hard to listen to anything else.

Re: Air "Talkie Walkie"

NO vocoder used on the voices This isn't true. They actually use the Roland VP330 quite extensively, especially noticable on "Kelly Watch the Stars" and "Remember." The reason why Beck's newer material sounds similar to Air is because Roger Manning Jr. and Justin Meldel-Johnsen, who did a lot of wo...

Re: multi track recording app on an iBook G3

I also recommend the mbox. I only have a 400mhz G3 with 384 mb ram and I get fairly decent performance from pro tools. Then again, I'm using v. 5.2 in OS9 which tends to be pretty solid.

Re: Favourite Guitar Soundzz

My setup is a Squire Stratocaster and a Crate GX212. Until fairly recently I didn't care too much about tone, so my setup has been this way for quite a while. Now I'm modifying all of my equipment in search of my own tone. I replaced the pickups in the Squire with Fender Hot Noiseless pickups, and n...

Re: Shoegazers in Oly

Am I the only one who's happy where they are? I live in Appleton, WI, a town of only around 70,000 people. Basically, the only unified scene consists of hardcore/thrash groups, then there are a bunch of electro-acoustic musicians (like myself) doing their thing in bedrooms and basements. Everybody l...

replacement speakers

One of my speakers has been blown for quite some time now, and I've been thinking it's time for an upgrade. What speakers do you all think would be best for a Crate GX212 120 watt amp? Anything under $300 (once you've added both speakers together) is in my price range. Any input would be appreciated...
