I think its kind of sleepy and dreary sounding. I do like the first song and the one about richard avadon.
He put on a free, secret show in Portland the other night where he played the whole album. It was not the most thrilling of concerts. I like his last few much better.

something like the Macareana is kind of like instrumental. The singing was gibberish to most that served a similar purpose to a lead line in an instrumental. Perhaps songs like that have taken the place.

There was some sort of frog song and a popcorn one that were in the same category.

yeh, it is pretty sleepy this time of year. People seem to be very appreciative of any slightly warm day and things start to get more busy (awake?) pretty quicks on those days.

arthur is just incredible all the way through. The songs are real complex in some ways, but it sounds like they are playing it all live. Its fun to listen to it through headphones and just occasionally listening to one side by itself. Also cool is the album "everybody's in showbiz". Its half new stu...

Northwest is not really a yuppie neighborhood. If you go about 10 blocks off of Burnside, you are in a sort of industrial neighborhood/area that is pretty funky and has lots of weird bars and is pretty cheap to live in. I pay less for a bigger place on NW than I did in alberta area and i'm much clos...

Tom Petty - Highway Companion (and other thoughts...)

I've really been enjoying the newest tom petty recently. Sounds great and has real god songs. I've been getting back into TP after watching the Bogdonavich film. His career is kind of like Tom Wait's where he has just been making solid records consistently without any big gaps in output, comebacks, ...

FS: Musicman HD130 Head

I'm selling my music man head. It has tremolo and reverb with the footswitch. It has a few scratchy pots, but it is otherwise good condtion. I'm also selling a marshall 4x10 cab. Its pretty torn up, works and sounds great. It also has casters. I'd sell the head for 350 and the cab for 175, or 475 fo...

Tama Imperialstar fs in Portland

I'm selling my tama imperialstar set. It has one high tom and two floor toms. It also has a ludwig ten lug stand. This was a high end model when it came out. It also comes with cymbal stands and a pacific double bass pedal as well as normal Gibraltar pedal. Its in pretty good condition, but it has s...

Thinking of moving to Austin from Portland

I've been kind of playing around with the idea of moving to austin. I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on the city. I'm 23 and I would like to play and record music and also find jobs in environmental science/engineering/planning. I also don't drive and I'm looking for an bike friendly, aff...

im thinking of moving out of here after being born here and living portlnad/eugene for 23 years. Too cold and its kind of sleepy and quiet for most of the cold months. Lot of bands, but the good ones seem to be ones you hear the most hype about. Im thinking austin or nyc. Anybody have thoughts on th...
