Re: Advice on acoustic treatment of NYC apt, control room on
Hi Ayan, I'd love to keep the hardwoods, but that looks to be one of the major culprits in the transmission of low frequencies. I think I'll try this http://www.hsfacoustics.com/studiopacks.htm to minimize reflections, but I don't know what to do about the bass. Everything I read says construction i...

Re: Advice on acoustic treatment of NYC apt, control room on
Thanks for the response, I'll have another look at the latest Tapeop. I think my landlord and I have similar schedules, so I'll have to work while he's home unfortuntely. As far as isolating the speakers from the foundation, putting them on stands with foam under them should help right? Ugh!! Someda...

Advice on acoustic treatment of NYC apt, control room only
Greetings all, I've done the searches of Tape op and other boards.. I'm looking for success stories and advice on turning a small room in a NYC apt into a control room style room. I am well aware that without serious construction to the room, I cannot "soundproof" the room. I am however looking to m...

Re: cubase sx install hell!
There is a registration card that comes with SX, that's where the SN is. If it's not shoved in the manual, the seller probably still has it. You should be able to work it out between the seller, yourself, and Steinberg. Then again there's always surfer's serial..... (did I just say that?) I'm legit ...

Re: MAC...I trashed a file, now I want it back!
Buddy, I fix Macs for a living, and we do in-house data reco. If ever anyone had the makings of a data reco customer it's someone trying this trick. Where did this trick come from? I am definetly intrigued, and will possibly try this out on a test machine. I hear what you're saying, when you really ...

Natural,
have you actually done that Pro Tools recovery trick?
It sounds like a terrible idea.

Re: Eugene OR, MAC USERS HELP
if you have not deletd the var and temp files, have you tried putting them back?
Additionally you can try booting into single user mode, (apple + s @ startup in X) Once all that confusing text stops, type "fsck -y" then hit the return key.
That might work.

Re: "Re-amping" without mics?
Or you could just connect everything and start twisting knobs and flipping buttons till it sounds good. Don't fear noise. By today's standards, unless your card is really crap, you'd have to do quite a few bounces before it becomes a problem.and from what you're saying, noise is what you're after an...

Re: quick computer recording fix
just resent the email. I've been doing music on computers for 13 years and I would'nt even think of trying to talk you out of buying a 1" 16 track. There is much to be said for the strictly enforced limitations of the analog domain. Don't think so hard about this. It's an investment yes, but for what...

Re: quick computer recording fix
First of all you need to relax.
(I would slug someone if they told me that, even if they were right.)
did you get my email?
I confirmed with my PC friend that the 2408 worked without error using Sonar.

Re: MOTU 2408, New Mac G4, just won't work, I'm going crazy
That config should work. I've set up one like that myself. How does the machine behave when you're not running logic. What has Tech support recommended you do? This does not sound like a prob with the 2408. sounds like a configuration problem or possibly a hardware problem. Please provide more detai...

Re: quick computer recording fix
I have a 2408 MK II I may be looking to sell. Just got a Metric Halo Box on Fri, and I don't think I need both. Lemme know if you're interested. A friend who is a PC user bought the MKII because mine worked so well. He uses Sonar, not sure what the hardware config is. That' something you'll want to ...

Re: cool mac firmware reset, (help find lost firewire)
Uhhhhh yeaaahahhh..... I kinda sorta fix macs for a living, and was specifically told by Apple not to hold the cuda chip for more then a second or you could crash the pmu. Other variations on this procedure are to hit the power button after unplugging which will cause the fan to spin 1/4 turn on PCI...

Re: "Re-amping" without mics?
It'll be fine, just watch your levels. I've done this hundreds of times. As long as it is an actual mic/line preamp that you're using, and it's the last thing in the chain before going back to the computer. For monitoring purposes, you may want to send the signal back to your board first, then use a...

Thanks
