Re: my new favorite band - The Sadies

they're a fantastic group indeed- a mix of everything- country, rock, folk, psychedelic, surf etc etc. a great canadian group from toronto- whats also great about them is that they have a universal fanbase that is indiscriminatory, hence people from all walks of life and ages show up to their gigs, ...

Re: Mono versions of Beatles material on CD?

the cream disraeli gears album was actually released in dual mono and stereo format on cd back in the late 80s by the audiophile company mobile fidelity sound labs. there wasn't anything too majorly different about the mono mix, other than very slight differing running times and perhaps a wee bit sl...

Re: Pink Floyd pupils claim royalties

Hell, Nick Mason and Rick Wright didn't even get THEIR names on The Wall! What do the kids expect. Chris is right that they were paid in studio time at Brittania Row. This will die in the lower courts... yep... and i read that after some time passed the kids also received autographed copies of the ...

brian wilson's smile on vinyl!

i very recently read somewhere on this board about someone inquiring whether this great album would see the light of day on vinyl, which is the best format something like this (and all rtecords for that matter!) should be released and heard on! well i just read this- looks like we'll be graced with ...

Re: Really great article in November MIX magazine.

I let all my magazine subscriptions lapse, except for the free ones. I'm sick of paying for stuff! no need to, when you can read the magazine online! (imho, allowing so is the best thing mix has done in years!) http://mixonline.com/current_issue/ I totally forgot about that. I was thinking that if ...

Re: U2

all i know is that that popmart thing they did back in 97 was pure embarrasing shite! someone pointed this out a while back which stuck in my mind- look at a band like u2 and how in 25 years+ they've had these ups and downs. whether they will be timeless legends in the future...who knows? then look ...

Re: Most ANNOYING drum sound?

I had a very heavy metal band in this weekend. Working with them made me go back and listen to some of my metal records that I haven't heard in ages. I was listening to Pantera's "Far Beyond Driven" and I have to say, those are some pretty bad and annoying sounding drums. In fact, the whole record ...

Re: In The Court of the Crimson King

I was 18 and went to see KC play in 1981 at a tiny (300 capacity) club in SF. Holy fucking shit, it was basically my first concert and set the bar too high. People were smoking joints ("They can't do that. can they?") and the best were the burn-outs who were carrying around LPs for signatures. My f...

Re: In The Court of the Crimson King

the post crimson album from mcdonald + giles is also mindblowing. it's however, pretty tough to find. vinyl is pretty rare (although it's sought after by dj-types because of several breakbeats) and it's on cd only in japan, i believe. its kinda worth it, in my book. i paid ten bucks for a not so am...
