I love love love my ml52 ribbon. I use it about 3 feet off amp cabinets with a tube mic about 6 to 10 feet off and get really awesome guitar sounds. That is about the best use I've found for it, puts my 57 to shame every time. I also like it as a room mic for drums in addition to some nice overheads...

a vote for Fender
Fender Princeton Reverb, silverface. These amps sound very nice with everything I've put through them from Pedal Steel (very high output pickups) to baritone guitar (really large low-end for a 8" speaker). You can find one for well under 600, and the best part, they're lightweight!

Headphone Amps
I need to get a Headphone amp. The little Rolls unit I have distorts terribly. I'd like to have some flexibility in the unit. I'm looking at the Behringer Powerplay for 99 bucks at Musicians Friend. Any other suggestions under 200?
