Allied electronics carries the MCM style connectors that are common on older shure & EV mics. As the previous poster pointed out, Amphenol makes tons of connectors.

I had one like that, repaired it (carefully) with Rtv I think, & it worked great.

Sorry to be late to this thread, but am I the only one who snickered at the close proximity of the words "tongue" and "aengus"?

Yes.
I tried a different FET (Fet's are enormously variable devices), & it seemed to help a bit with the level, but I couldn't be sure. I've considered other mods but haven't explored them yet.

I've been perusing old issues of The Audio Amateur. One of their early projects is the Quadpod, which derives L-R & R-L for a pair of rear speakers. Sadly, the project uses 741 opamps, so it's probably not the most hifi sound, but it's a pretty simple circuit that could probably be reworked quite ea...

I think Scott Dorsey wrote up a mod for the SM81 in Recording Jan. 2007. I missed the issue so I don't know the details, but I think it's a fairly simple mechanical (i.e. not electronic) mod. I also have never heard a modded mic, so I can't speak to the sound, but it might be a step up.

The fumes are pretty much solder rosin--certainly a harmful thing to inhale, but you'll still get fumes with lead-free. Just get a nice little solder fan for your work table & stick with the lead.

I'm going to disagree with Linus. I think getting a patchbay, even a cheap one, can help immensely. If Meldar spends 50 or 60 bucks on a used Neutrik or dbx patchbay, and maybe a hundred or so in cabling, it can potentially save him huge amounts of time. It'll also give him an opportunity to get com...

PM700 in ATL

I've got a Yamaha PM700 in Atlanta I'm looking to sell. It's in decent shape & good working order except for maybe a couple of scratchy pots. I don't really want to ship, but I'm willing to drive an hour or two to meet somebody if need be. Pm me for pics if you're interested.

$150.00

I was afraid I'd end up having to do some surgery on the rear panel to fit an IEC in, but lo & behold, it slides in perfectly. There are even two screwholes in exactly the right spot. A little bit of soldering & I'll be on my way.

WANTED: PM1000 power cord

Maybe someone has one of these lying around? Or maybe someone could point me in the right direction? Here's a pic of the power inlet on the back of the mixer:
