I've been doing it also. I have an FTP server and we just make sure that the tracks all start at the same point and go. One guy has a standalone recorder that puts out Bwav files, another has a PC using Logic or something like that and I use Digital Performer on a Mac. No hiccups when going from pla...

One word of caution, when using that jack for DI I always find the resulting tone is nasal.

The guy obviously doesn't understand why people play music. What a tool. I wonder how long it is until he starts adding things like: __________________________ How to watch a sunset... ...DON'T DO IT! The sun's just gonna come up tomorrow anyway. __________________________ How to enjoy a well-cooked...

I can't believe I forgot to mention "Maggot Brain" by P-Funk. Eddie Hazel's playing on that song is amazing. Once again, without the guitar part the song would make little sense.

I agree with Chris. If you are able to sketch the whole album out recording it yourself you might be able to figure out which parts need the studio and which parts you can do on your own. If you are using a DAW you could record the whole thing yourself and then figure out which parts need to be "upg...

+1 on: Jockey Full of Bourbon What Goes On and then add: To Hell With Poverty (Gang of Four) almost anything David Rowlings and D. Boon have played I guess I don't like guitar solos either. These examples are mostly guitar melodies where if you take them away, the song doesn't make much sense anymore.

When you're doing that kind of editing, you usually have two machines. You can dub the part you need to stutter onto the second deck and then splice that piece into the first machine.

When my band recorded with Steve Albini he made a couple of really cool tape edits that took him less time than it would have if it were me with my computer and Digital Performer. He zapped out a couple of stick hits on the snare mic (a Sony C37 FET at that...he didn't even flinch) and then spliced ...

last year bought a soldering station with temperature controls, and can't believe I waited so long. Which one did you get? I am thinking about getting my first. I got a Weller WES51. One friend got a Hakko and it's quite nice also. I almost went with a Weller pencil-type iron, because the tip you u...

I probably should have given some answer to the original question since that's what this thread is about: I have a Yamaha FG-365S and it records excellently. It's a great player too. It easily holds up to the Martins, Takamine, Guilds, etc. that I have played. It's great for strumming and more jangl...

A strange feeling that even though this year was pretty brutal, there was enough good and things to be hopeful about that I was never really down or bumming on its horribleness. That's a great gift. Oh yeah, I also got a t-shirt with "Most Fruitful Yuki- lead with the belly, follow with the sword" o...
