Radio Shack has a nifty little box you put between your phone jack on the wall and your telephone that has a 1/8-inch line out on it... you can get a line-level signal from that and hook it to your favorite recorder. It's fairly inexpensive.

All my shit is on a 1.3Ghz, 512M RAM... Firepod into Sonar and it runs fine... just don't have a lot of background apps running... You problem could be laptop soundcard conflicting with the Firepod or you may just need new drivers... Presonus has a firmware and driver update that's fairly new on the...

Sounds a lot like what I'm dealing with... I put up a bunch of curtains... like thick ones, in front of the washer/dryer and storage areas both to hide them from view (I record other people's bands down here on the super cheap) and to block any weird reflections you might get bouncing off a metal wa...

The firepod bypasses the soundcard entirely essentially BECOMING your soundcard when you are using it... I totally disabled my internal soundcard after adding the Firepod to stop needless calls from the computer to the soundcard for work the Firepod should be doing.

Tama Rockstar Fusion 5-piece...

Trying to sell this set locally, thought I'd put it up here as well just in case: Tama 5-piece Fusion kit (22, 10, 12, 14, 14 snare)... wine red, bought new in 1999 and have been taken pretty good care of... toms are like new, kick has a couple small scratches (probably not even as deep as the clear...

A little tip if you pick up a computer from an OEM like Compaq, Acer, etc: go into Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, and remove pretty much everything that's not labeled "Windows". None of it is useful for audio. Also, I haven't tried doing anything audio-related in Vista yet, but I will say th...

Sonar on a $300 WalMart Compaq. 10 ins via Firepod... haven't had a problem in over 4 years (except for a power supply going out on me... $60 fix). Is it underpowered? Maybe. I can run 20+ tracks of 24-bit audio at once with generous plugins per each track... it's enough for me.

This sounds awful... my PC died on me in the middle of a session the other day but I guess luck was with me as when I finally got the box going again and re-opened the project, all I lost was the last take (and I was only doing bass overdubs, so just one take of one instrument)... thank goodness... ...

the 990 is very different from the 603s's. i didn't like the 990 at all. no character. bland and toneless. That's actually why I kinda like my 990... if I'm just trying to get a simple sound, it pretty faithfully gets me that sound w/o a lot of fuss (and I only paid $22 for mine, so I don't mind if...

I know CoolEdit can Batch Convert files... set your original folder, set a destination, plug in some conversion parameters and walk away until it beeps to let you know it did them all for you. I love this feature for converting an entire album of 32-bit WAV's to crappy MP3's for MySpace/whatver.

I love this mic on kick. End address, great rear rejection, if you close mic the FOK, you're gonna get almost nothing but FOK.

[turketron voice] THOUSANDS OF YEARS AGO [/turketron voice] The FirePod offended the mighty Macintosh for it's Podness, and so it became the FP10. Many were delighted with this development, but lamented the lack of pretty LEDs, and so the FP10 became and currently is the FireStudio Project . Some r...
