some of this stuff will go away when a person's head is tilted downward (throat stuff...not lip stuff)
I've used the Waves X noise d-click to remove some lip stuff really fast

Glyn Johns method is a pretty good way to start. If you aren't close micing toms I'd suggest coated Emporor heads. Works better for me in that situation. mono ribbon room mic 3 times the distance of your overheads to the snare placed sideways should be in phase with the OH's. Sideways and compressed...
