OK, so what's the -bad- news? :D How -does- one bias this thing? I don't see any way to adjust -anything- on it. You seem familiar with it. Is there a manual available somewhere? Thanks! ---JC Next stupid question. I can't seem to find a bias adjuster on this deck. Should I go for the RMG 911 (456 c...

Next stupid question. I can't seem to find a bias adjuster on this deck. Should I go for the RMG 911 (456 clone?) or the 900... which appears to be able to take a hotter signal. ---JC 1. http://www.tapes.com/ 2. The new tape is either RMG or ATR. People have reported mixed things about the RMG tape....

I Just Got A 1/4" Tape Deck. Now What?

Hi, This may sound totally noob/stupid, but... I just got an old Sony TC-252 1/4" Reel To Reel. And I have no idea what to do with it. I mean... I've had -many- tape machines over the years... just not in the past 20 or so. I figured, if nothing else I could make little echo loops with it like when ...

Thanks. For whoever follows on the vast interweb... Goo-Gone. Whoever invented it should be knighted. Or canonised. Something. The thing looks good as new. (And that's what counts, right?) javascript:emoticon('') Cheers, ---JC http://www.ehow.com/way_5836429_contact-cement-removal.html They sa...

Just out of curiosity... and tips on removing the -old- cement first? ---JC Contact cement is normally used. 3M makes some in a small size. http://www.amazon.com/1300-Scotch-Weld-Neoprene-Performance-Adhesive/dp/B0012IYOH4/ref=pd_sbs_auto_3 I used to have a link for a good cement. Was going to use i...

D'OH! ADHD. OCD. CIA. One of those. You're totally right. STUDIO PROJECTS C1. circa 2002-3, I think. Seems to be working as far as I can tell. I'll call that guy. Thanks! ---JC I don't know if Michael Joly does flat out repairs - but maybe he could mod it. sort of like the six million dollar man - b...

Studio Projects SE-1 Blew It's Top

Hi, My venerable SE-1 got slammed into during a recording accident yesterday and hit the floor. Several things got whacked loose (several mounting screws and the windscreen on top) but when re-assembled it -seems- to be 'working'. Three questions: 1. Other than using me ears, are there 'tests' a lay...

Thanks! Took yer idea and just found some 6" goosenecks that should work a treat. Cheers! ---JC Two possibilities, just based on looking at your pic (I've never used these particular clips before, mind you): 1. What happens if you try to rotate the clamp out 90 degrees, so the screw part is actually...

Thanks. This -really- helps. If I had -those- clips I wouldn't have bothered posting. :D My apologies. My psychic mic clip powers are obviously not strong enough. That's OK. Everyone has a superpower. You just have to find it (mine is finding great parking spaces at crowded malls.) :D OK... one las...

Thanks for the replies. Just got off the phone with A/T. Even their guy was less than enthusiastic about these things. My confusion is that the included clips do NOT allow one to point the mics perpendicular to the drum head. In fact, they seem to want the mics to be almost -parallel- to the head. H...

clip on drum mics generally are for close mic'ing, if you want to go with another technique these may not be for you. I get that. I guess I'm getting frustrated because it seems like my question inspires all these grade school replies. I GET how to mic drums with a 421, RE30 or SM57. I've just neve...

I posted this question @ a 'recording' forum and got a number of derisive posts. Perhaps I should've written... 'I've never used clip=on drum mics' I was hoping someone had application notes on best practice for PLACEMENT. Usually when I mic drums they are a bit further away then these clips allow f...

How To Use Audio Technica Drum KitPak?

Hi, I just inherited an audio technia drum kitpak. This consists of case, 4 clamps to the drums and 4 mics---2 labelled kick/tom and 2 labelled kick/snare. No documentation and I went to the A/T site and the item is discontinued with no downloadable docs. So... Any idea on how these are supposed to ...
