Re: Stupid Newbie Question (I'm sorry)
If you're recording average rock bands, you might want the ability to record the band all at once, even if things end up being scratch tracks. I don't know much about the delta1010, but I am using the EDIROL UA-1000 right now. It has been a godsend. It gives me 10ins/10outs. There is more informatio...

Re: That AM radio vocal sound
You don't have to do it with the mic or preamp. Try eq'ing it to heck .... just do a bunch of extreme stuff... hint: cut the lows and mess with the mids and highs. If you are mixing in software that supports VST plugins, try downloading NorthPole .. it's free. might not be am radio exactly, but is f...

Re: SM Pro Audio PR8
I was trying to buy that PR8MKII for the longest time, but music123 never got them in stock. They were on backorder from September until December so I gave up and cancelled the order. Right before they actually did get them in stock. The ADAT option for the MKII is another $149, too. I am tempted to...

Re: Mixing Mono?
"Leave Here a Stranger" by Starflyer 59 was mixed in mono. It sounds really nice and you really don't sit there thinking, hmm, this is weird somehow. It sounds so natural.

Re: How do the big studios do it?
soundguy - I'm not in recording school. And I'm not interested in recording school. For now, I chose to pursue a Radio Television Film degree because I happen to also be interested in Film. Not really directing, but more so the editing and/or mixing side of it, whether that be editing video or audio...

I don't know if he still does, but in an interview from 1996 I believe, Mark Trombino said he likes this on bass amps.

Re: Anyone care to help me do something sort of deceitful?
Dave, I'm in NYC. Well, Brooklyn. Jeremy, I'm not on a DAW. It was recorded to a Tascam MS-16 and I have a A&H System 8 2416 board. Mixing to an Otari MX5050. I've cut lows on the kick and guitars, and have listened to the mix on as many systems as I could. The bass needs to sound more agressive, m...

Re: How do the big studios do it?
I would find a church choir, or high school band and offer them a nice recording at a very low price, or even free figuring I would help them sell CDs to their audience and make money off the duplication. My usual schtick with high schools was to show up and record their concert for free, take orde...

Re: How do the big studios do it?
No. :D Or yes, but read here for a couple of months, and you'll learn mucho. Eh, I'm tired of reading. I've been reading for what seems like forever (I know, I know, I'm wrong...4 years is not equal to forever) on multiple boards, including this one. I find getting off the internet and actually doi...

Re: How do the big studios do it?
I'm not sure how much I can offer to this discussion, but what's so interesting to me is the fact that I've been trying to wrap my brain around all these things you all are talking about. I'm 19, have become obsessed with recording over the past 5 years, and (imo) can put out pretty decent stuff if ...

http://www.theecholab.com/ this place is a little bit north of Ft. Worth...my friends band recorded their last record there and it sounds great. especially the room sounds they got on the drums... You aren't talking about Ester Drang, are you? That's where they recorded their Infinite Keys cd...it ...

Re: enhancing cd's (adding multimedia to the end)
autorun is very annoying.
at least when it autoruns, give them the option to close the window, and just play the cd, or go to the ehanced content.
