Re: cancelling clients and work fustrations

you could have a great year and only work with one client, if that client spends enough time working for you to pay your bills.

ask for a deposit to book studio time. have them write you a check for $100 and if they cancel without sufficient notice, cash it.

Re: Eboe Plus vs. the original Ebow

I think that the old one didn't have the 2 settings.

If I'm not mistaken, the incredibly high, squealy setting is exclusive to the "plus".

Re: How do you deal with ignorance (including your own)?

I don't like that, because, again, it assumes the client just doesn't know what's good for them. Maybe this case is a guy who's expecting steak, and you keep saying "what's wrong with salami"? I don't think that's at all what he's saying at this point. I think he's saying that people have different...

Des Moines, IA

So, I'm in Des Moines for the next few nights...

any venues I should check out?

I know I'm not far from IL, MN, NE, etc.... but, would like to stick close to Des Moines if possible.

thanks.

Re: How do you deal with ignorance (including your own)?

um... there's a "K" in O K lahoma, smartass! and, I think that you completely miss the point. I don't think that they're unhappy with the sound because of the playback system at their homes/shacks/whatever. They are unhappy because it sounds the way Saul thinks it should and not the way that THEY th...

Re: How you know when you're reading a great audio magazine

show me a tapeop reader who WOULDN"T love to spend a ton of dough on gear! ummmm... that would be me! there are a few things that I'd like to try out. but, for the most part these days, I just buy what I need, if I need anything. And, I'm not talking about NEED the way most gear addicts do. I'm so ...

Re: How do you deal with ignorance?

could an attitude adjustment be in order? Do you just wander from thread to thread, trying to be clever? nope.. I rarely post. Only when I think that I can be of help. Most of these posts, with the exception of one or two, brought up very valid points that either I hadn't considered, hadn't ...

Re: How do you deal with ignorance?

getting offended and high and mighty when you admit that your skills are far from polished, is a sign that you will have years and years of trouble in this area. you said, "the singer was clipping the pres" was the singer the one who set up the pre's and adjusted levels while he was singing??? that ...

Re: Jucifer

it's not the music that I listen to... but, for a show, their whole schtick was much more interesting than most of the shows I see. It sure beats the whole phony, practice-my-snarl-in-the-mirror, spirit-of-77-from-a-kid-who-was-born-in-the-80's, garbage that I see way too much of. Jucifer's fans wer...

Re: Money money money

gear lust = over! loans for a student to buy gear that they will most likely not see much return on investment from is just bad. some people have to take out loans for gear... but, many can justify it because their studio is in high demand and they will not pay a fortune in interest because they've ...

Re: How would you go about getting Drum sounds like Pantera

I'm about to do a metal/hardcore album. I don't listen to alot of that stuff... but, the guys in the band brought me some cd's of productions that they like, and ALL of the kicks and snares sound like triggered samples. So, now I'm looking for a cheap trigger to midi converter. Any suggestions? I'm ...
