I recorded these two songs for Normandie Wilson on a Tascam 388: http://normandiewilson.bandcamp.com/album/saturday-night-girl A few years ago I did a record for Lloyd and Michael entirely on a 388: http://www.myspace.com/lloydandmichaelrock And I did basic tracks for Red Pony Clock's God Made Dirt ...

I would be super hesitant to jump in full time without the hope of some steady work lined up.... maybe thats just me and that niggling voice in the back of the head saying, dont do it. I also think that pretty much in everything money shouldnt be the ultimate goal... not staying that it is for you....

I wanted to resurect this thread because I'm considering a go at full time engineering in the next 5 years or so. I'm working on a backyard studio build-out now. I have a lot of uncertainty, though, about how much money I can reasonably expect to make per month on average (assuming I do a decent job...

No prob, Pete.

Yeah, it's kind of lame that there aren't good vintage type guitar shops in San Diego. I'm sure if you go up to LA you'll find a lot.

Well, it's not a neighborhood place and it's in North County (Escondido), but Super Sound Music is cool.

Looking for music example with extreme high frequencies

Greetings, I have a weird request. For work purposes, I need to find a real world music example that has extreme high amplitude, high frequency content. The best I've found so far is a track off of The Flaming Lips' Zaireeka album that has some 14kHz energy at -20dBFS. If you know of anything that y...

My e-book: How to Run a Successful House Show Venue

Well, after a handful of years putting on shows at The Habitat in San Diego, I found myself inspired to put together my thoughts on running what I call a "house show venue". Meaning, a residence that puts on concerts regularly for many years. I can tell that this is a growing trend and I think it is...

awww, man! That's awful. I had no idea... I love Broadcast. One of my favorite bands. They have such a great sound. Gritty, but pretty. Melodic and rhythmic. Retro, but not kitchy or anything. And great songs. Trish, of course, was a key part of their sound with her unique vocals and I presume she w...

Is that A.Hollis as in Andrew Hollis from Univ.of Miami?! If so, hey man! I wanna say, yes! brew is definitely on to something about the -2 or -3 thing. I'm not necessarily suggesting you start mastering your recordings to only peak at -3dB, but... maybe not a terrible idea. What would be nice on a ...
