Does it but anyone that the Emtec successor used the old formulation names and the Ampex/Quantegy formulation names in parallel? Outside of IP/Trademark issues, I remember hearing quite vocal insistence from partisans who preferred one or the other that they are not interchangeable products.

Re: Misconstruing Albini
When I was in college, some wanker in an REM cover band who wrote for the school paper wrote a review for a pretty crappy band playing in a cafe, who I happened to be doing sound for - a couple 58's, a 57, old Biamp board, Crown amp, Yamaha Speakers, pretty damned simple stuff. Anyway, the wanker wr...

That picture, looks a bit familiar . . .
Oh, alright, it's coming back to me. A friend of mine threw out that armchair. Cat had pissed on it.

Re: where is it all going? [rant]
Home and humble recordings aren't off smash sellers, but they can make a dent. Blood Sugar Sex Magic is pretty much a smash, recorded remotely in a rented mansion. Chris Whitley's Dirt Floor was a critic's best list fave that year, and that was recorded with a stereo ribbon mic to two track in a bar...

I think I've got a taker, and a couple people are interested beyond, so, they are probably gone. I'll give a heads up otherwise.

Futons or failing that, mattresses, against two adjacent walls. (I assume four walls, rectangular.) Futons make the best studio furniture because they also double as gobo's.

My better half is finally rejoining me in Austin. I need to get rid of these organs. How does free sound? Pick them up this weekend. Either you get them or the landfill does. Message me if you want them.

Look up "donkey punch" on Google.soundguy wrote: I guess you could just beat axel. something about having buttsex and then beating him seems slightly more visceral.
(Amazingly enough, one of the top hits is an online game featuring Britney Spears.)

Anybody send the guy messages asking him annoying questions yet? Responses could be fun.

Fuck, my eight year old niece could beat that kilt-wearing freak.
Oh, wait. You mean be entitled to beat him? Where does the line form?

Re: Tape Op trashed on Motu Mac listserv
And how did this degenerate into a "I hate Steely Dan because they're digitally recorded now." thread. Hey, most studios are primarily digital now and I wouldn't say SD are anti-analog. Hell, over 90% of their damn catalog was done on a 24 track 2 inch tape machine, I'm pretty sure. I agree entirel...

Re: You know what would be great is a Spectrasonics 610 DIY
I think there was consideration of such a project here. While they are still in some level of production, there are IP issues in copying one. I do believe that they sell some of their circuit cards though - if your time is cheap enough that you want to put one together on your own, go nuts. Remember...

Looks like they want Behringer's action. Gotta be Chinese factory production. They might be doing it right, though, for all I know.

Re: Tape Op trashed on Motu Mac listserv
Dumbasses. The gear reviews editor of Tape Op is an unrepentant user of digital recording devices, and he has not suffered the pains of any inquisition in how many years now? If there's any overriding gear philosophy of the mag, it's "whatever works." I think they're just ticked off that not all of ...

Re: Guitars: New, used, or vintage
Oh, on LP's, I have a strong prejudice against maple necks. Had an LP studio that was otherwise nice, but it never really sounded like an LP. What a shame.
