My neighbor loaned me an MS-20 a few years ago, before the re-issue. I got so into it, I couldn't even play it the last month it was in my possession, because it was like, this is going to go away, and I'm never going to be able to afford another, and I can't even bring myself to experiment with all...

Yeah, I pretty much just use the stock plugs in Reaper, which is easy, since they're so darn nice.

Know what you're talking about, though; went through it with Cubase 5, where it's like, all these options! The antidote is knowing "all these options -- largely irrelevant!"

So tell us, what are your habits/tips/bitches when it comes to recording synths.
Try the Proteus THROUGH the Mopho. You can gate the sequencer on the Mopho with its audio input.

Another thing I've gotten into lately is sidechained gates. Put a gate on your track, and then set it to open from the snare track. Beauty.

I'm kinda using Radiohead as a reference, just because I'm kinda stumped on how to describe our sound that gives people a (positive) ballpark.

I really appreciate your listening and thoughts. Thanks a bunch.

They are streams. Just click the file name and it will start streaming. Sorry I didn't specify. Looking like you're going to get the 24-bit download is just a trick.

No replies on this...? Let me just say I love that album. It is the best singalong road trip album I can possibly think of. "We recorded the whole thing direct guitar. I don?t think we used an amplifier on that whole album. But I don?t think it was supposed to be intentionally poppy or anything. I w...

Radiohead-esque trio - how are these mixes?

Hi Tape-Oppers, I'm playing with some guys in a three-piece - drums, keys, guitar/vox. Music is pretty varied, some instrumnetal, some fairly dance-able originals. We decided to do an album. We recorded basics in the drummers attic studio, and I did several overdubs at my house, as well as some flow...

Have arrived - thanks for the journey!

Hey ladies and gents, Just a note to say thanks for all your help and inspiration over the years. I did a session Saturday, and realized that I was getting the kind of great results I've always wanted. Some of it is gear, some of it is experience. All of it is based on what I've learned on the TOMB ...

MacPro is great if you're doing video rendering or cryptography. Massively overpowered for anything else. DAWs don't actually need that much power. A MBP should do if one absolutely needs that logo on one's DAW.

I've been completely obsessed with Arthur Russell. Have been listening to Calling Out of Context and the Sleeping Bag Sessions non-stop. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Russell_%28musician%29 Also getting back into some of the punk rock of my youth; specifically Arcwelder and Boy Elroy (which I...

The funk one sounds like an MXR phaser to me, possibly with a delay on it as well. The house bass is definitely a synth. Would be difficult to hazard a guess which one, but judging from the release date of 2009, could definitely be a soft-synth. Has kind of an Arp Omni vibe to it...?
