I've had lots of satisfied clients with the Focusrite Red 3. No EQ, except for
a low cut filter, but I find that if I'm reaching for the EQ I'd rather change mics to get the sound I'm going for.

It was my understanding that 911 was practically the same formula as 456.
It sure sounds similar to me.

I've got 4 of the CM5/4050's and there's no extra foam in any of them.

I'm another tape user. I have many machines, from 2" 24tk down to 1/4" mono. Heck, I even have a Tascam cassette 4tk in the closet somewhere.

I'd say that at $500 it's sure worth it even if it needs some TLC. Then again I've got a disease and own about 8 Ampexes, 4 MCI's, a couple Tascams...I'm sick, and contagious.
