Beleive it or not i actually had an sm57 fall off my console on to carpet and never worked again.Ive tried three times to revive the little fella but no luck.I thought they were indestructible!!Still a very versatile mic though. r.i.p

Sounds like you're doing a bit of the ancient fine art of turd polishing if you cant "eq anything good out of it".What mic/placement/set-up etc are you using?More info please.

I dont mind the akg 451 sd condenser.They've even reissued that mic.Sennheiser 421 is a favourite also.Most of the time it's what you put in front of a mic not the mic itself.It's all he said she said anyway,i love it you hate it, that kind of thing.
