This thing is totally idiotproof. The 'tape simulation' doesn't even have a knob. It's always on, like it or not. And like it, I do.
The compressors have like 3 basic presets with a tweak each, and an input/output. Totally me-proof.

I remember the delta 44 , then the 1010. Next up was presonus firepod. Better kind of. Then 002 (inputs 5-8, anyhow), easier on the ears but not really better...just sort of different. Apogee 48k...better, but still very "digital" sounding to my ears. Finally, I've landed on a motu 828mkII, with luc...

FWIW, if you're recording yourself, look hard at the software, specifically the workflow. I tried to go PTLE awhile back. Super stable, "sounded" fine, but to me seemed really gear towards recording other people. No changing song tempo in real time, and a few other things I can't remember that made ...

MPX-4? In any case, you won't need the model, there's only one sytek four channel pre out there. Do a search for sytek. The sytek is about as good as it gets for bang for your buck, unelss you want to get a soldering iron and build stuff. It'll hold its used value well...lots of great engineers use ...

nice transformer condenser?
I've used most of the mics on your list, and totally agree with CGarges on the beyer....and I love, love, love the M500. If you somehow scraped together a little more, I'd get a soundelux u195. That mic sounds good on most things, and more importantly really has a big, thick, colorful sound IMO. You...

I've been swearing off gear for some time now. I went crazy for a few years when I had some extra money, and I'm sick of the guilt! I'm not a pro. That 3% is silly, but aside from the first time I heard a condenser microphone, a decent mic pre was second most exciting experience w/o a doubt. After t...

I had one of these some years ago, and I'd totally pick another up for $150. Yeah, the converters kind of suck, but go figure the thing doesn't sound that bad! It never broke. I never had to restart it. It doesn't need drivers. Eight tracks with bouncing facilities. You're killing me. If it's in goo...

Music Man HD212
Howdy, I've got a Music Man HD212 for sale in Portland, Oregon. It's a 130 watt amp, with 2 X 12's. It's in good-togreat cosmetic shape, save for a small tear in the grill cloth. I think the speakers are non-original, but I'm not sure. The amp is great....super loud, clean headroom to accomodate you...

Seventh Circle kits: A12/C84
I got these on a whim, but I've got plenty of pres right now. I'd much rather put it towards a guitar amp! I only opened the box to make sure everything was there. Not a single component has been taken from its packaging: a12: $275 C84: $175 John Hardy 990c opamp (nice, nice choice for the a12): $50...
