If you're considering software vocoders...I've been using CM Vocoder. It came free with Computer Music Magazine a few issues back. Its a rebadged version of the Fruity Loops Vocoder. Very tweakable, nice sounding piece of software. I've been using it through Reaper with Togu Audio Line's U-NO-60 as ...

Inverse- I've recently been digging into Reaper, mainly using it as a host for softsynths and guitar effects. I haven't used it seriously for mixing anything yet. It's a super flexible DAW, very lean, lots of cool features, etc... but... ...#2 is that a bus "track" is indistinguishable from an audio...

+1 for the Axiom 25. I use it with Reaper and a bunch of vsts, mostly monosynth stuff. I wanted something small to carry around with a laptop and this really fit the bill. The keys and trigger pads feel really good to me. The key board itself is nice and chunky but not very heavy. The knobs, buttons...

My favorite VSTi freebies for that sound: Morphiza Phibes Name one "Fafisa-Centric" band that has recorded more than one song that any normal person would have ever heard. Elvis Costello and the Attractions - Pump it up, Watching the Detectives, Radio Radio, etc... Was that a Vox Continental???

Inverse...Thanks for posting this! I love this guy's stuff. His Wurly and Leslie VSTs are super good. I've been wanting to get a real Space Echo forever, and now I'll own a very close approximation for just under 20 bucks. Nice!
