I think you would ideally want bass traps in a room like that.. not necessarily. the room looks quite large in the picture, so you aren't likely to have the ugly bass problems that smaller rooms do. the main thing i'd watch for is those two big bare parallel walls: you may have some flutter problem...

if it were me i'd want another flavor for vocals. in my experience, 414s are great all purpose mics for instruments, but are more like special purpose mics for vocals.

Does the omni pattern make these mics respond to phase issues differntly than other directional mics? No. Phase issues (as relate to multi-micing) are all about distance of the different mics to the source. Directional pattern has nothing to do with it.
