Re: Oktava MK-319 mic review
Actually yes Snatchman, there is another thread going on in this very forum talking about mods that can be done to the 219/ 319, and the name Scott Dorsey seems to be mentioned everytime an Oktava mod is discussed. Look for "Any mods for the Oktava 219" thread and there is a load of info in there. I...

Re: any mod's for the Oktava MK-219?
How easy would these modifications be if you've never done that sort of thing before, like myself? I have 2 MK219s and 3 MK319s so doing mods would be great and I'm really interested I just don't have the first clue as to where to start in all honesty.

Re: To Many Tracks To Mix!!
Well since it keeps coming up then I have a quick trivia question:
Name the first Beatles song that was recorded entirely in stereo and entirely on an 8 track recording console. Special bonus points for knowing further details beyond those two questions regarding the topic.

Re: Oktava MK-319 mic review
Well.... 1. How close are you to the mic when you are "talking" into it? 2. Are you using your (remember this from your parents) inside voice or outside voice? Nearly any mic is going to pop or have the breathy sound to it if you are practically swallowing the mic and not using a pop filter. It's po...

Re: Going outside, being outside, mixing outside.
I might have a go at this pretty soon. I have a friend that's coming into town to record some backing vocals and percussion work. We could just run an extension cable outside of the church and into the massive "backyard"! Mmm hmm tempting indeed, just hope the weathers up for the event.

Re: reamping for real REVERB
I've not had the opporunity to try reamping, sounds like it would be a nice experiment though. However I have the very gracious luxury of being able to record in the sanctuary of my church, which has arguably the most pleasant naturally occuring reverb that I may have ever heard. So if I want to do ...

Re: To Many Tracks To Mix!!
Good rules. Especially "no punch -ins". We've lost something today in music as a result of punch-ins and automation. I hate to be a trainspotter but technically DSOM was done with more than 16 tracks. They did lost of bouncing down in order to fit everything onto 16 tracks for the mix. Same with The...

Re: Recording rock drums with only 2 mics
Now, I don't have a stand-alone pad. I don't even know what they look like. But I'm assuming it's a box with an input, output and a knob to attenuate the mic signal. So, would placing the pad this way still pad down the mic on the other side of the Y cable? Well actually I'm not aware of there bein...
