I hate you guys, I have been using my 1968 for Snare Top and Snare Bottom (via SPL TD) for awhile now; or on acoustic stereo mics. You guys come in here and start making me think it?s in the wrong place, jeez!!! The Nerve!!! ;-) Truth is, I tried it on the mix buss, but I really just don?t care for ...

I agree with M160 on bottom snare with something else on top. It can be really nice there, and out of harm's (stick's) way. Man, I?m so addicted to the sizzle of the snares on the bottom mic. I am always afraid of losing some of that going with a ribbon. Does anyone find that to be an issue come mi...

Hate when that happens, that's when I reach for the tambo most of the time. Going to try that in about 5 min.

Thanks

They are still friends, but he is not a band member.

OR ya'll can start mixing related topics and put them here and we can all realize that a mix does, in fact, get recorded and thus fits in just fine on this board.

It's true in your situation, money spent at the microphone might bring you more happiness. As far as the Twinfinity's go, I think they may have been marketed a little on the inappropriate side. They don't sound vintage, particularly warm, an lack what some people like to hear from there vocal mic pr...

I have had a few pairs of small dia. Condensers, but the Shure ksm 141's were my first and favorites, even up against more expensive mics. They work on so many sources. Having one as a mono overhead in omni can sound really great.

Without correct impedance/level matching, things like cable length, headroom on the input device, and overall signal quality will always be an issue. Sometimes you may not notice it right away, and with certain chains maybe never, but there are some devices/chains that will never work right. I have ...

I do what I can to get pumped up to do the mix. Sounds strange I know, but after editing for hours or just listening to the parts with the artists over and over again; sometimes I lack inspiration. So I try to find an idea that I haven?t yet had about the song. Could be crazy effects, wild scene cha...

I love how right after the take is done, it's done. When they listen to the playback there was nothing left to be done. An engineer's work was all done well before take one. Yep, live mix to two-track. And if you listen to 'Sketches of Spain' by Miles Davis, you'll still wish they turned that damn ...

No speaking from from very much experience here, but is it possible that what ever value you may gain in a Neve over time, you might lose in upkeep? The Neve consoles I've worked around (not on, just around) always seem to be in some state of disrepair. Pot/fader noise, modules not seating right and...
